A Level 2 Beginning to Read Alone DK reader, “Rocket Rescue” is an easy-to-read tale based on a LEGO kit. BB wins a chance to become a Space Port astronaut and soon he is lifting off, on his way to adventure.

The colorful illustrations, perfect for the text, are inspired by the LEGO kit on which the story is based. In addition, photographs, with accompanying explanations, from NASA are included. These special information blocks discuss astronauts, suits, EVAs, meteors, space travelers, training machines, liftoff, and traveling to the moon. Accompanying the information blocks, a special “Great Space Facts” section follows the story; both aid in strengthening the young reader’s learning and understanding of space science. It’s a perfect book for science education or for youngsters interested in space exploration or LEGO stories.

A brightly illustrated Lego bookwith some historical tidbits and photos such as the Moom landing in 1969. Very nice photos and closeups of lego people.

These Discovery Kids books are surprisingly good. They add little scientific tidbits into their story. I. This one, kids learn about astronaut training and so e of the things that are expected of astronauts. Nice work DK!

March 2017 - the writing is uninspired, but it does include a female astronaut and some sidebar space facts. Solid space/Lego adventure.
