4* We learned about the Yukon gold rush, and enjoyed the story of how Albert Forrest and his teammates travelled to Ottawa in 1904. They overcame many obstacles to challenge the Ottawa hockey team, the Silver Seven, for Lord Stanley's cup. It was a fascinating, inspiring story about life in Canada more than a century ago.
My Great Grandfather was Albert Forrest. I don’t remember him but always loved hearing stories that my father told about his life in Dawson City and his hockey career. I have a picture of Albert in his hockey jersey and skates that I will always treasure. My Grandmother gave Alberts skates to a museum in Canada many years back where I believe they still are on display.
