We are all bound to experience changes in our lives and careers and this book focuses on how to manage those changes.
The author shares six steps for starting from scratch and my favorite and utterly new or shall I say 'something I never thought of' is step 3:'Build Your Own Personal Board of Directors,' and this focuses more on aligning yourself with people who can propel you towards growth in your career-and are outside of it, so they are objective and wouldn't care more about pleasing you.
I hadn't thought of this because I have aligned myself to friends more for emotional support and now I get to review and think of mentors in the career I am in.
I loved how this book is structured because it not only shares stories from various leaders in various fields, it also includes questions for reflection at the end of each chapter. Thank you Netgalley for the eARC. I would recommend this book to someone who is not comfortable and I say so, because if you are content-you wouldn't learn much from the chapters shared in here.

Starting From Scratch is one of those books that feels practical and deeply human at the same time. It doesn’t romanticize reinvention, it acknowledges the discomfort, the uncertainty, and the emotional weight that comes with beginning again.

What I appreciated most is how the framework stays simple without losing depth. It’s written with empathy and grounded real-world insight, making change feel actionable rather than overwhelming.

For me, it arrived at exactly the right moment, a time of transition, reflection, and redesign. The book offers clarity without pressure, encouragement without clichés, and a sense of possibility without pretending the work is easy.

A meaningful companion for anyone navigating a shift in career and looking for a guide that understands the human side of growth.
