I really enjoyed this book. I kept worrying that the ending would not make me happy. I was running out of pages with no happy ending in sight! I didn't give it 5 stars because of the descriptions of the Crimean war. I don't like war stories ( or stories where animals get hurt).

Started off a bit slow, but the book got better as it went along. Ended up really enjoying it, and disappointed it finished.

Historical novel, made a decent attempt at describing the frustrations and limitations for women and the events surrounding the Crimean war in the Victorian era.
