The life of cowboys durring the cattle drives from Texas in the twenty years following the Civil War. Not all cattle heards were trailed to the railheads but some sstocked the ranges of the Pacific Northwest.

I am admittedly biased, as James Shaw is my third great uncle, but I really enjoyed this book - both as a great story about his life spent on the trail, and as a collection of information about the Shaw line of my family. Definitely a treasure of mine.
