I've a copy of this published in 1877, with penciled notes of a student in the margins, something that definitely weighed in on my review. I am both saddened and overjoyed at the content. How things have changed! And to Miss Elsie Allen, of Lilman, Illinois, a (presumably) posthumous congratulations on making it through the book in just about a year. (September, 1892 to October, 1893) I enjoyed your notes even more than the contents of the book.
