Rate this book
Grand Masters of Sufism brings together in one volume two paramount texts from two of the most influential shaykhs in the history of Sufism. Abdul Qadir Geylani's Secret of Secrets and Ahmed er Rifai's Guidance to Mysticism present key concepts of the Sufi path in profound detail and can each stand alone as a work of unparalleled authority. Together, they comprise a veritable textbook for students of Sufism and all who would seek a deeper understanding of the mysteries of spiritual life. In this first English translation of Guidance to Mysticism , Shaykh Taner Ansari provides rich commentary that preserves the original text, while at the same time making it relevant to modern sensibilities. As Pir of the Qadiri Rifai Sufi Tariqa, Shaykh Taner draws on the lineage of his venerable and beloved masters for a unique and authentic translation of these texts. The result of his endeavor is Grand Masters of Sufism, a book wrought in reverence and love.

i had this book as a gift from one of my professors. i must say i was amazed by the translation of the book in the first place , and for that i thank Es-shaykh Ansari for the great efforts . for the book it self, i find it very interesting , offering you a guidance in life. it is not just a religious book, and even if you are not Muslim it would be interesting to read it. It offers a way of self healing for the body and the soul through the idea of God and Quran. the advises in this book can be applied on many aspects of life except religion. Although if you have a background about islam it will be easier to understand the Arabic terms. However the translator also provided good English explanation for these terms

Shaykh Taner comes from a long line of Sufi shaykhs, particularly from the lines of Abdul Qadir AlGeylani and Ahmed ErRifai who lived in Baghdad around the year 1200. He gives fascinating history and translations of their works in this short, but sweet religious treasure.
