Code 507

Rate this book
Marcus' dying wish was that you'd be reading this, and that you'd be the one to solve a decades-old mystery. Before he passed away I promised to help him write and publish the story of his US Army buddy's entanglement with two former Gestapo agents, a stunning strawberry blonde named Mika ... and a code. It was 1953. Marcus and his friend Ed were stationed at Göppingen, Germany. One day, when Ed was on leave, he was approached by two shady characters who wanted to sell him a booklet of 66 encrypted messages which they claimed "contained priceless information" for anyone able to decipher them. Ed turned the tables on them. Pretending to be an agent in the US Counter Intelligence Corps, he tricked them into surrendering the booklet. Later, the ex-SS men nabbed Ed, worked him over good, and threatened to kill him unless he returned the booklet. That's how Marcus got involved in what can only be described as "dangerously harebrained espionage". For the rest of their lives Marcus and Ed unsuccessfully tried to decipher the copy of the code they secretly made before handing over the original.
