The Court of Burgundy

Rate this book
An examination of the spiritual and social questions in relation to the political history of the Dukes of Burgundy. Professor Cartellieri in this volume deals mainly with the by-ways of history, with social life and manners, with art, literature, music, and the position of the knight and the lady, and with that strange manifestations of the fifteenth century, the witch persecutions in Arras. These matters, or some of them, are touched upon in Huizinga's ""Waning of the Middle Ages"" but from a different and less detailed point of view. The reader who has these two works on his shelves will be well equipped for the study of one of the most amazing episodes in history. Illus. This title is cited and recommended by Books for College Libraries.
