Key takeaways in no particular order:

- Separate pronunciation from reading
- Teacher/audio does the reading out loud
- Freedom to choose what gets read at home
- Read x amount of graded readers over a term/year
- Pre and Post reading should enhance comprehension, not (merely) test it
- Introduce the topic of the text. With Pre, Beginners, and Elementary this can be done in their mother tongue.
- Ask about pictures & titles, ask for predictions about the text
- Texts can be transformed into specific activities without bringing in worksheets
- Homework can be more meaning-based, assigning students to retrieve information about a text/topic from family, friends, etc
