Born in 1875, in Liverpool, Florence Bone was the eldest daughter of the Rev. Henry Bone, a Methodist minister, and was educated at a Moravian school. She lived for many years in Ripon, and - in addition to her three girls' school stories - produced many works of historical and romantic fiction set in Yorkshire. She died in 1971.
