Curve: The Female Nude Now

Rate this book
The female nude has been one of the most enduring themes in art. Curve surveys how artists over the course of the last ten years have been sculpting, photographing, and painting the female form. A wide range of work and styles is from the work of John Currin and Lisa Yuskavage, whose inspiration ranges from Old Master painting to Penthouse magazine, respectively, to the sensual nudes of Jock Sturges's photographs to the brazen women who populate fine arts, photography, and fashion work. The sheer variety of the art presented will speak to a wide and diverse audience.

You would think page after page of beautiful naked women would be bliss but not in this book. It got boring. I say that in a nice way. Each page is art. You have to look at this book as art and not smut but something about it made me sad. The girls all different. Skinny, fat, fake, real, nothing special. A boar and nothing fun. Nice to look at from time to time when you can remember you have this book. Its easy to forget it just there at the bottom of your book collection. Sad I thought this book had good sense but no heart.
