I have a number of these little books, that are basically extended pamphlets. They vary in quality, both in the writing and in the production of the actual book, which is usually done out of a small shop in Delhi or Kathmandu. This book is particularly good in both respects. It contains a brief but thorough overview of Buddhism, then sorts the objects and symbols by their origin (pre-Vedic Indian, pre-Buddhist Tibet, and Chinese), providing some historical context for their meaning. It contained some explanations of symbols that I had not seen explained before, and everything else seems to track pretty well with what I've read elsewhere.
