This book has basically only the words that Christ spoke and is very easy to read. I could just concentrate on what He said.

This book is short, about 236 pages. However, read it slow, get into the scriptures and really press into the cultural context of what was said to the multitudes and to each individual that Christ encountered. This collection of Jesus’ sayings in chronological order are not standalone quotes but have some of the dialogue and background required to understand the context of each passage. It is a gem becaue often we quote scripture, but Jesus’ words were less than 25% of the bible. This does not discredit the bible, as special attention must be paid to the references that Christ made to the OT. He often refers back to “The Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms”. This direct tie of the old scriptures being directly alluded via the Saviors mouth, acts as a stamp of certification, that if the Savior referes to these as solid sayings, we too must regard them as binding. Recall that during Christ’s time the NT was just beginning to have a preface to writing. It is by knowing what Christ said and highlighted that we may have the bottom line of the purpose of the entire bible. A witness of Jesus as the Son of God, come to us, immanuel, to save us from our sins, by dying a sinners death on the cross, having been the perfect lamb, the remnant, and the servant-king.
Read it! Familiarize, and challenge yourself to know the scriptures more personally.
