"Grand Painting Competition", announces the poster, and Daisy decides to enter a picture of her favourite things. She and her dog, Duggie, set off around the world. This story introduces children to key works by five artists, showing each painter's style and the place where he worked.
Unimpressive book but it doesn't help that it features some unimpressive artists either. I have personally never been a fan of Gauguin or Pollack. It really should have featured Matisse as her painting at the end is vaguely reminiscent of his style and he was actually talented. I appreciate that at least Chagall is here, he's not often brought up in kids books. Last, Van Gogh and Monet, while I love their artworks, are often featured in children's books about art.
