Rate this book
The battle isn’t over. It’s only just beginning…

This book was previously published as part of the megabook Battle for the Kingdom.

Duke Ravenstorm’s son was gravely injured during the fight against the Blue Dagger Society and Lady Lucy Briarthorn is still in her clutches.

The Duke hurries to strike a deal with the Dark Goddess Vitaria, while the King prepares to breach her castle and free Lady Briarthorn.

The Blue Dagger Society is once again forced to split up to ensure victory.

Tim, Shadowlily, JaKobi, Cassie, and Lorelai go their separate ways to collect the pieces of the spell that will bring down the magical barrier around the Duke’s lands.

Each of them must overcome the obstacle standing in the way of getting back before the Duke’s reckless grab for power results in disaster for the whole kingdom.

Will the Blue Dagger Society’s attempt to storm the Duke’s lands end with them freeing Lady Briarthron? Can they save the kingdom before the Duke’s actions hand it to Vitaria?

Missing minutiae

I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad to be missing a lot of the details and little things in this story. I really enjoy authors who make a believable story because it includes "realness" without bogging things down. On the other hand MA is all about moving a story forward and it's part of what I love about him. Some of his collaborators still manage to slow things down a little to keep the reader immersed in more aspects of the story. With Bradford Bates, it looks like MA has found a sympathetic soul so things just go and go and go...
