The blurb on the cover calls this story 'a classic western adventure'. It is as it has all the ingredients needed for a good western: shootouts, chases on horseback, gambling, brawls, and lynch mobs. What lifts the story above the average western is the author's creation of fully developed, believable characters. They are multi-dimensional characters that live and, through them, the story lives too.

Really liked this one by Max Brand - I admit that I couldn’t help seeing the main character as Val Kilmer’s Doc Holiday in my mind’s eye.
