This volume contains twelve chapters written at various times and in various places each dealing with some subject drawn from the great treasury of Ancient Egypt. Some of the chapters have appeared as articles in magazines.
Arthur Edward Pearse Brome Weigall was an Egyptologist, stage designer, and journalist participated in the discoveries of the tombs of Yuya and Tjuyu, Kha and Merit, and Horemheb. During World War I he became a successful set-designer for the London revue stage, which led in turn to film work and thence to a post as film critic for the Daily Mail.
This was a great read, after getting past the first two chapters. Weigall, can really bring the study of Ancient Egypt to life. This book was published in 1912 and it is just amazing to think how much the knowledge about Ancient Egypt and Archeology has developed and grown since then. It is so interesting to see what the leading thoughts of that time were. This is a book I will be sure to refer to over the years for the sheer enjoyment of it.
This book is GREAT! From expounding on the value archaeology to discussing Egyptian history and symbolism, this book is a great primer. The pictures are wonderful. I had never seen some of them before and it made the read more interesting.
