Oumi has survived famine, tribal warfare, and a devastating virus. Now, in Oblivion Rouge, Volume 2 , she must survive the brutal initiation of the Hakkinen, the mighty, armored army of this future African continent.
In the near future, a virus called the LEUP has infected half the population . The resulting war between the people of Liam, known as the infected, and the people of Galoum, known as the immune, becomes a bloody and brutal affair. When a mysterious army called the Hakkinen emerges to quell the war between the two countries , they adopt children of war to aid them. Oumi and her friends are enlisted to help find a cure and end the bloodshed. Several young recruits have died already, as the battle royal between them spared no one. Each young soldier has their own story to tell in this conflict. As a result, Oumi gambles that trying to unite those young initiates left alive may be the only way to defeat the Admirals entering as the contest’s final part. With the looming threat of the supernatural enemy Hells, this conflict will be pivotal for Oumi, her friends, the future of Africa—and the entire world. Oblivion Rouge is rated OT for Older Teen, recommended for ages 16 and up.

+++ cool and imaginative story, good art, new-ish perspective on manga (for me)
- - - poor distribution, confusing paneling, in need of editor, definitely in need of help with the layout of the manga,
Im looking forward to seeing this artist grow into the field of manga hopefully with some help from professionals.

On a side note what is this new trend/obsession with child murder in comics and manga. Are we actually trying to desensitize ourselves of every shred of our humanity?
Good. There's a much needed character sheet at the beginning. The artwork is dynamic and the violence is cruel, but it works so well. But I hate how similar Oumi and Soktara look; they have the same haircut and expressions, so it's difficult to tell the two of them apart.
This book kind of requires a refresher from volume one, but I pieced it together okay. I'm still intrigued by the world and would read another volume.
Lots of machinations and big battles. The story and art work are entertaining. I enjoyed reading from that perspective. Not having read Vol 1 I was a little lost on the back story. Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group - Rockport Publishing and NetGalley for the comic ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.
For NetGalley: This graphic novel has great art work. I love the Schindlers List style with colour, very effective. Good story line. Easy to follow. Enjoyable read
