An older man throws the ball with his two young children on a hot, summer afternoon. He pauses, wipes his brow and stares off into the distance. As a young man, in a distant land, as another person, he had dreamed of life as a teller of stories, magical stories that take one far away, where truths—ingrained in the fabric of the universe, come alive with transforming power from The Ancient of Days.
"Oh no, he's doing it again," he hears Ricky say to Gabi. "Come on Dad, throw the ball."
A long, long time ago, on another planet in a distant galaxy, he had studied under a master storyteller in the land of darkness. He had escaped that darkness, but the longings still churn within. Dare he write again? What are his motives? Will he bring the great truths to life or crash and burn like Phaethon, riding his chariot across the sky?
