This book was originally published in 1891 by Drake. Not the book to read if you’re looking for detailed and accurate battle movements and decisions from the Battle of Gettysburg. But he wrote what I’ll call a picturesque account of the battle. The man who wrote the introduction called it a “historical essay and a good survey history of the Gettysburg battle.” I’d agree. His descriptions of Gettysburg, the terrain, the fighting are descriptive and in great style. Good read.
