It's difficult to write a review without spoiling the book. The worldbuilding is interesting, and the book is well-written. A lot of characters die; Desert Gold isn't a happy book. I liked Cliff, but this book isn't my cup of tea.
I flew through this and finished it in 3 sittings. I was enslaved to the story while I struggled to piece my way through the puzzle. The ending did not disappoint and did a great job explaining the events in the story. However, the style of writing was too straightforward and lacked artistry. I can't wait to start book 2 of the series.
