The Oracle
The Helot slave and the Spartan Prince shouldn’t cross paths. Yet supernaturally, Lyra and Leonid’s fates happened to become interwoven. Lyra, the one true oracle in the temple, saw him bleeding to death in her visions. Refusing to accept this end, she tagged along on his treacherous journey to Athens. She had a simple undercover mission at the Temple of Delphi, to compete for a priestess position, but the Pythia in charge had other plans in mind— an inhumane set of trials designed for betrayals and bloodshed. The strong resistance Lyra encountered forced her to race with time. But from the start, are futures able to be rewritten? Leonid loathed the throne of Sparta that was paved by his brothers’ assassinations. He had fought tooth and nail to consolidate his young kingship, but his revenge, however, didn’t account for her, the girl he once vowed to protect. Newfound feelings for her thus began to get in the way. As he walks a dangerous line between Athenian rivals, he must weigh her and Sparta on opposite ends of the balance. But only fate will know the ultimate price of his decision.

The Oracle is a Historical Fiction that revolves around Lyra, an oracle in Sparta, one of the few who could actually read other people’s futures. Upon reuniting with her childhood friend, she foresaw that he was about to die.
She decided to join him on a journey to Athens, though her agenda was exclusively to prevent the worst from happening. However, during the process, as fate plays with her patience and her strength, she must figure out whether or not she has the ability to rewrite someone else’s future.
Leonid, the young king of Sparta, had nothing but revenge clouding his head—finding out the culprit behind his brothers’ assassinations. But when Sho, who used to be just a friend, reentered his life, priorities began to shift. And as greed closed upon everything that he held dear, he must choose; it was either her or the city and people that he supposedly ruled over.
A lowly oracle and a vengeant king had no parts in each other’s lives, but fate brought them together for a reason. With endearing and strong characters set in a well-developed world, this was a heart warming read. I enjoyed watching the characters interact and learn about each other.
The past and present incidents were written continuously, which ended up confusing me many times. I had to go back and reread to figure out if an incident was happening in a flashback or not. This was the only thing I had a problem with in this book.
