Trey Winters had always been a user. So arrogant and self-centered. Being co-owner of eliXXir, one of the highest profile clubs in Hell’s Kitchen meant he never failed to attract the hottest men around and toss them aside after one encounter. Trey had a life most would envy. One he reveled in, until a mystery man crossed his path one Valentine’s Day, complicating matters both in and outside the bedroom.
He didn’t want to want him. Didn’t want to need him. But fate, it would seem, had other ideas.
Noah Middleton craved to express himself the only way he knew how. Reach his full potential, chronic illness be damned. Accepting a place at a prestigious New York dance academy might have made his goal so close he could taste it, but after admitting to his best friend he’d been unable to stop thinking about the beautiful stranger he’d met on his last visit, said friend took it upon himself to play Cupid.
The man was irresistible. A temptation like no other. And for Noah, that was the scariest part of all.

L.J. Harris discovered that as much as experiencing pain, loss and betrayal can be devastating, capturing the feelings of anguish and loss that some of her characters have had to endure without firsthand knowledge would have proved difficult.

Trey, co-owner of club eliXXir, doesn’t do relationships, a quick one in the back without returning the favor, is more his thing. The longer he acts like it the more acceptable it feels. He’s the experience expert how relationships can hurt. One night, at the masquerade event at the club, his eyes fall on a beautiful graceful dancing guy, a new target.
Noah is a dancer, and a good one. He starts a new chapter of his life, he’ll take his diabetes with him, but that’s something he can live with. A new town, a new start at the New York dance academy. For now, he’ll stay with his best friend Justin. They have a night out at a club, and that’s where he meets Trey. They have a quick one, only it’s different, he can’t forget this guy.
So, both men are attracted to each other, but also won’t start anything permanent. At some point, it gets quite complicated. They even try to avoid each other. Only, Justin is the partner of Wes, who’s co-owner of… yes eliXXir, and they know the real Trey and the real Noah.
Complicated is an understatement. Watch them, denying what’s in front of them. Justin and Wes annoyed me at some point, why interfere? Let Noah and Trey solve it together. It’s even so that the only initiative taken was after their friends interfere.
A nicely written story, with a bunch of (supportive) meddling people, the pining and hurt were palpable, the plot was good and plausible. I would have loved some communication without other people involved. The sexiness was hot and well put together. The development was slightly done. The epilogue was a bit stuffed, it rounded up every loose end. They certainly have their happy end!
Opposites DO attract, and Trey and Noah are perfect proof. Grumpy, anti-commitment Trey Winters is a user, and owning the hottest all-male dance club in NYC supplies him with an endless stream of willing partners. When he comes up behind Noah Middleton on the dance floor during the club's Valentine's Day leather and mask masquerade night, Trey literally has no idea what he's up against. Trey thinks he'll just seduce the guy up to his office, get what he wants, and scuttle Noah off like all the others. Welp. Even without knowing the masked man's identity - or maybe because of it - there's something about the sexy hot-mouthed dancer that just won't let go.
Sweet, talented Noah certainly isn't looking to tangle his life in Trey's sticky web, but he can't seem to get that one-"night"-stand out of his head - and six months later, through mutual friends, he's gone to work for the guy to pay his way through his dance program. Trey doesn't recognize Noah, and though something about Noah intrigues him, Trey has a strict rule against getting involved with his employees. The unresolved tension builds to a fever pitch between these two, but Noah is not going to let Trey have a hold over his life without giving all of himself in return. It's a fabulous push and pull between the two men as they struggle to master their own emotions and each other. The dialogue sings, whether they're fighting or trying not to!
I was already a huge fan of L.J. Harris before I picked up the ARC of His eliXXir, so I was very excited to read book 2 of her Men of NY series - and this story exceeded my expectations. You will fall in love with these two (if I'm honest, I probably love Noah more, but that's okay). Here's hoping we'll get a Men of NY #3!
I loved the MC's in this book. Trey is sexually confident and uses men as he pleases. Noah is a sweet man who oozes charisma when he dances. It was inevitable that these two would find that one night together was not enough to get over one another; the sexual chemistry is very strong. There are some deep issues to sort out and at times I found their mutual friends (Justin and Wes) to be a bit annoying and interfering but in the end it worked out with great sex scenes and a HEA. This book definitely flowed better than Book 1 because the tension remained high throughout and their characters developed together. I'm rooting for Elliot to get a story with Baden.
This is book 2 in the Men of New York series and features Noah, a diabetic dancer who has just moved from L.A. on a scholarship to a prestigious dance school, and Trey a club owner, who has never been with the same man twice. They first meet when Noah is visiting his best friend and touring his new school. They go out to the club his friends boyfriend co-owns. While there Noah, in a mask for the masquerade party, meets Trey, and they hook up. Later on Noah knows full well who Trey is but Trey is not sure who the man was that blew his mind that night. If you enjoy mutual pinning, with neither of them wanting to admit they have feelings for the other, and then add in the meddling friends and family, then this is the book for you.
Neither Trey nor Noah want to admit their feelings. Trey, because he refuses to ever let anyone close, and because he can’t get the one man out of his head from months before. And Noah, because he knows how Trey is and that Trey has no idea they have already been together before. When Noahs best friend and Trey’s cousin decided to get them together to admit what is happening, Trey realizes who Noah is. They decide the best thing to do is get each other out of their system. But when does that ever have the intended result.
It all backfires and they both spiral. Trey because he does not know how to deal with being in love, and Noah because he is grieving after being rejected. When Noah decides he is going to be reckless and has a diabetic scare it forces Trey to acknowledge what they are to each other. There were a lot of times i just wanted to scream at Trey to open his eyes, and pull his head out of his ass and see what was in front of him. But they got there in the end.
Entertaining story. I liked the two MCs, their personalities are well defined and the differences between them are noticeable, as well as the attraction they feel for each other.
I liked Noah a little more than Trey, in that he's someone who doesn't let anything stop him. He is determined to pursue his dreams and neither an illness nor the rejection of the man he loves discourage him. As for Trey, what I liked is how little by little he evolved, trying to figure out how to overcome the emotional damage he suffered because of his family. And what I liked the most about it, is that it wasn't something overnight, but it progressed slowly, month after month, and even when the two characters found their HEA, he remarked that he kept looking for help to solve his problems.
The only reason I took a star off is because of Justin and Wes. It's as if they couldn't decide: do they want to help them be together or not? I mean, first they plot to get Noah to see Trey again, but then they tell Trey to stay out of the way. Then they force them to have a "double date" so they can talk, but they get angry when they see that somehow they were resolving their situation... Too meddlesome. I understand they had good intentions, but nope, I didn't like them .
In general, a good story, entertaining, with hot and sexy scenes. You could tell when they were together the chemistry between them was special. I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
A captivating story with engaging characters that will draw you in and hold you. Trey is an unemotional, one and done guy, but scratch the surface and you find so much more depth to him - a past of verbal abuse and abandonment has left scars and a walled off heart. Noah is the opposite in comparison, he is vibrant and giving, but he is less confident - unless he is dancing, then he shines and draws people to him. Conspiring friends work to bring them together once they learn that Trey and Noah can't seem to shake thoughts of their one time together, but this causes some interesting situations for them all. Their journey is longer and goes at a slower pace, but it is definitely not boring. Their backstories are fully developed, there is some angst and drama for the MC's, the entire story is entertaining and a bit emotional, and leaves readers on a high note with their absolute love and such a sweetly satisfying HEA. This was the first book I've read by this author, but it will certainly not be the last. I would definitely recommend this book. I was given an ARC of this book, this is my honest opinion.
I did not expect this story to turn out the way it did!
Oh my freaking soul this book had all the emotional feels, angst and steam that I adore in a book!
It had me transfixed and spellbound from the first chapter till the soul, tear spilling epilogue!
Trey was a character that you grew to love as the story progressed and you got the background history of his upbringing without the emotional support of his parents and the bond he formed with his cousin and aunt who took him in.
Noah was such an endearing character the way he supported and comforted Trey but most of all he understood where he stood although it hurt!
Being a type 1 diabetic myself the knowledge and research impressed me that went into explaining Noah’s condition and treatments!
I voluntarily received an ARC from Gay Romance Reviews for an honest review.
Maybe one more time? Trey, is determined to stay away from relationships. He is a one an done man, and happy with it. Noah, loves to dance. He received a scholarship to one of the better dance schools in the country. He doesn't plan on letting a diagnosis of his chronic disease stop him from living his dream. Trey and Noah met and had a fling. Trey, expected to continue with his one and done attitude, but something was different. He still thought of Noah and couldn't get him out of his mind. The story is a journey of both men trying to fight their feelings, but struggling against the pull of attraction. Will they stand strong in their committment to their personal beliefs, or will they succumb to their attraction? Good story, nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I wanted to like this books, but.... I didn't really. The story was super predictable (not a huge issue as many romance stories are), but the characters were never developed, the writing was overwrought and melodramatic - it felt like the author really overused the thesaurus here, choosing to use a "fancy" word whenever possible, sometimes not quite correctly - and I was often confused by the characters' reactions to different situations and conversations. People would be talking, the dynamic was a bit odd, and suddenly everyone was MAD!!! It was weird and I rolled my eyes multiple times per chapter. I haven't read the other book in the series and unfortunately I don't plan to.
An excellent story of Trey Winters & Noah Middleton two men that are complete opposites... Trey Winters owns a high-profile club that attracts highly stunning men who have a sexual appetite to match. Noah Middleton scored himself a place at a very prestigious dance academy while attending Trey’s club on Valentine's Day he danced with a stranger who left a lasting impression...
A very powerful read that is so consuming and irresistible. Wonderful main characters the secondary characters are just as good. The storyline drew me in added with such a strong story this is easily more than five stars.
I have a particular fondness for stories where the guy who is determinedly a one night and then move on type runs into that one man he can't forget. Here, Trey and Noah meet at a masquerade party at Trey's club eliXXir and both are inordinately affected by what they assume will be their one encounter. They don't count on some serious matchmaking by their mutual friends, however, who spend a great deal of time concocting plots to get these two together. It takes a good while before they admit what anyone and everyone else can see, but there's plenty of steam and an HEA to look forward to. Enjoyed the two main characters and the plot of this one immensely.
He is co-owner of a club but he is not a very nice man as he treats everyone around him like rubbish. He uses men like that as well until he meets a stranger who shakes his world. They have a chronic illness but they still intend to live life to its fullest. Will they have a full on relationship? How will it all go? Can they find a way to live life to its fullest? See how life will treat them both
Fantastic! Started out strong and only gained strength as it progressed. Excellent characters, each and every one. Very poignant, charismatic and enticing storyline. The story drew you in, it held you entranced. The m/c’s were captivating as were the supporting roles. From beginning to end this book is fabulous. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
This is the story of Trey and Noah. It is the 2nd book in the Men of New York series. Please read the trigger warnings. Very entertaining story. I loved Noah. It is written well. The chemistry between them is sizzling hot. Definitely recommended
I received this book as an Arc and I am happily reviewing it voluntarily.
I wasn't sure if I would like this book or not, but I was willing to try it, and I'm so glad I did. I loved the chemistry between the two and the way they both fight the want for more than just their one night.
I didn't read the first book of this series so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was a good grumpy/sunshine kind of story. I did have a few issues here and there but I really enjoyed it in the end. I may have to go back and read book one.
I loved the inclusivity this book had with one of the MCs having diabetes it was really good to see it. It’s a really good opposites attract read, a trope I haven’t read much with.
I loved the happy ending Trey had with his family. It was something I had hoped would happen but didn’t think it would. And the ending… omg I was not expecting it, I was bawling my eyes out on the couch it was so sweet.
All in all I really enjoyed this book it was my second read of the year and it was amazing! I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes MM romance, opposites attract, second chances and a fast but slow burn type book.
This was a great book but the main characters went through a lot to get their happy ever after. I love the premise of an untamable playboy paired with a serial monogamist. It makes for an angst yet exciting dynamic. These two ended up so well suited for one another. I would suggest being alone when you read the sheet scorching love scenes. A fine addition to this series.
