What were Jesus' contemporaries expecting? What did Jesus actually say about His kingdom? What is the relationship between the "kingdom" and the Catholic Church we see today? Join popular Scripture professor Edward P. Sri for a faithful exploration of Jesus' "kingdom-building" mission. Sri's accessible style and provocative study questions make this book ideal for individual or group study. About the Series: The Kingdom studies explore the teaching and mission of Jesus Christ as revealed in the New Testament and carried on by His Church. One of my supplemental books for Biblical school. Highlights the 3 most important aspects of studying Scripture: context, context, context. When Matthew's Gospel is read in context, with the Old Testament references properly understood, it's easy to see why Protestant scholars complain about this gospel being "too Catholic." Jesus was clear in his intention to set up his Church as the new "kingdom of God." He gave the apostles all authority as the first Bishops... with Peter in charge as the first Pope. Who now has the keys to the kingdom of heaven? Pope Benedict XVI.

Short book with some good insights into the book of Matthew. I would recommend reading this book while working slowly through the gospel of Matthew.

Great book if you are going through the book of Matthew. Gets the big concepts and gives you the board needed to dive into the book yourself. Great capstone to Salvation History.
