When the Spirit Speaks

Rate this book
Tap into the power God wants to impart to congregations through spiritual vocal gifts: tongues, interpretations, and prophecy. This contemporary, relevant guide provides Pentecostal leadership for orderly functioning of the gifts in church services so pastors can encourage vocal gifts, maintain balance between structure and spontaneity, lead and instruct their congregations knowledgeably, deal with gift misues and abuses, and allow the Holy Spirit to empower their churches to reach people for Christ.

A nice concise set of guidelines for use of the public vocal gifts in a service. While the author makes it clear that scripture leaves us little practical advice, the guidelines he outlines in this book are built on common sense and some of the scripture we do have.
A good read for all pastors who wish to see vocal gifts in their services and for anyone wishing to move in those gifts publicly.

Super quick read. Gives a solid theology on the public function of the Holy Spirit and its gifts. I think it pairs well with the Charismatic Theology of St Luke for a teaching of the Holy Spirit.

This book is filled with several guiding principles and helpful practices concerning how to pastor the use of vocal gifts (tongues, interpretation, and prophecy) in the local church today. The author recognized that flawed human beings will sometimes misuse or abuse the vocal gifts in a church service. The solution isn’t to completely remove any demonstration of vocal gifts from our church services altogether, but rather for the pastor to teach, to correct, and to help the body of Christ grow and mature in how they operate with the vocal gifts.
