First off, I just have to say that I have never read the first book (The Barefoot Believers), and didn’t even know that this was the second book in the series when I first bought it! Nevertheless, I really enjoyed reading Barefoot Brides. It talks a lot about Moxie Weatherby’s life and how she got kidnapped by her father as a baby. She then has to grow up without her 2 older sisters in her life, but she finally gets reunited with them when she gets older. Now, what really got me interested in this book in the first place was the romance. A lot of the characters fell in love with people I didn’t really know, so it was difficult for me to understand why they were in love, but now I realize that maybe there was more background to them in the first book. Although I don’t really care about why they are in love, it was their weddings that made me feel really happy at the very end of the book. Even though this book was very confusing for me at first, I think it teaches you a good lesson on how you can’t just run away from your problems all the time, and just face everything head-on and that’s why I give this book a 4-star rating.

Another cute little easy to read fairy tale type book. I have discovered I enjoy this author's ability to add Christianity and the Bible to her plot without making everything 'churchy.' I hope to read more of her novels in the future.

good book that addresses dealing with the unexpected turns in your life. Moxie was kidnapped by her father when she was a baby and then abandoned into the foster system. She has a mother and 2 sisters that are looking for her but don't find her till she's in her 20's. She blames them for not looking hard enough, but the real reason she's upset is because she thinks when she tries to push them away they will leave as everyone in her life have done in the past when things get too hard. They surprise her and stick around. She decides to take her sister Jo's advice and not play it safe anymore. Kate decides not to be "Scat kat Katie" and stick around this time for Vince enstead of running away over guilt for not telling her mother about her father taking moxie. Jo finds that people do see her for who she is and not just for what she can do as a realotor.

Let me start off by saying that this book is the second in a series and I have not read the first. I feel that I may have been more invested in the characters had I taken the time to read the previous book first. I found the characters to be a little bit shallow and whiny and annoying (at least in their thoughts). Luckily they didn`t voice too many of their thoughts so I could actually understand why the other characters in the book fell in love with them even though I did not. I also found it very unbelievable that every character encountered in the book was christian and had a strong belief in god. In the authors defense I did not find this book to be at all preachy, but I felt that religion was mentioned too many times with no real reason.

It wasn`t horrible but if you are going to read it, start with the first book in the series.

Trying to reunite as a family is not easy for the Cromwell after they find their baby sister. Their Dad had taken from the home when he left but turned her over to a friend and left. Moxie has trouble believing anyone will stay around after her experiences. I received this as ARC book for review. The book was good but took a little time to get into. I would read Annie Jones other books.
