Dallas wasn’t in the plans when Bree Henley set out to use the nonrefundable honeymoon tickets from her canceled wedding. Nor was running into ex-fiancé Nathan Hart. But their mutual friends and the weather have other ideas. A hurricane cancels their cruise and Bree decides to turn the disaster into a roadtrip for one, never imagining Nathan would object.
Nathan is furious when he uncovers the plot to get him back with Bree. But he can’t just let her go roaming around the big city of Dallas alone. Though he knows calling off their wedding was the right thing to do, he still cares for Bree. And before he knows what hits him, he’s volunteered to tag along. Suddenly, it’s a trip for two.
Spending the week together might remind them of why they fell in love. But is it enough to overcome the obstacles standing in the way of “til death do us part”?
Amy R Anguish grew up a preacher's kid, and in spite of having lived in seven different states that are all south of the Mason Dixon line, she is not a football fan. Currently, she resides in Tennessee with her husband, daughter, and son, and usually a bossy cat or two. Amy has an English degree from Freed-Hardeman University that she intends to use to glorify God, and she wants her stories to show that while Christians face real struggles, it can still work out for good.
A modern-day romcom with old fashioned values! Amy Anguish writes stories for an underserved population in romcoms - those who prioritize going to church and are committed to separate bedrooms before marriage. Finally, I can enjoy a romcom without getting squirmy about some of the humor or feeling sorry for characters living with no direction or hope in life. Bree and Nathan were perfect for each other and planning their wedding - until Nathan suddenly got nonsensical and called off the wedding. Separately dealing with their own pain, Bree and Nathan both agree to their friends' plot to send them on the honeymoon alone. That's just the beginning. Before they arrive and find out the trip isn't happening and run into each other. Roadtrip for Two sets up the perfect storm for awkward situations and romantic tension. Nathan was a change of pace from most romantic leads. He is super realistic with all of his idiosyncrasies and flaws - but it also makes him hard to love. I was pretty impressed by how kind Bree remained to him when she had so many emotions on the line. I would have snapped a long time before she did. I liked the way they deferred to their parents at the end and received loving counsel. If you want something different from your normal romcoms, I've really been enjoying Amy's books.
I read an ebook provided by the author in exchange for an honest review, but all opinions are my own.
In my review of Destination Romance, book one in Amy Anguish’s Roadtrip Romance series, I mentioned how drawn I was to Bree and the stunning twist to her supporting role in that book. So I was super happy to see that Roadtrip for Two picked up Bree’s story and the fallout from Nathan’s ill-advised & shocking decision in book one.
Ill-advised & shocking, yes. And hurtful and ultimately immature and, yes, dumb. That’s right, Nathan. I said it. (lol) But as we spend more time with Nathan on his & Bree’s mutually-unexpected pit stop in Dallas, that decision begins to make more sense. It’s easy to forget that we didn’t spend much time with him at all in Destination Romance – and most of those glimpses were not his best side. With a deft pen, the author fleshes out his character, elevating him from a tertiary player to a layered hero, flaws and all. And then there’s Bree, who I felt I had a pretty good sense of going into Roadtrip for Two but came to know even better on these pages. I liked her in the first book and I grew to love her in her story. She’s a little bit sassy, a lot sweet, and a refreshing young woman who seeks to keep God in the center of her life.
I enjoyed visiting Dallas vicariously with Nathan and Bree, all I’m-vacationing-with-my-ex-on-what-was-supposed-to-be-our-honeymoon awkwardness aside. They are so cute together, and even with all the damage that was done to their relationship they maintain a sweet friendship that shows how deeply they care for each other. I loved watching them dance around their still-there feelings and affection because they did so with the growing maturity that comes from life-changing events. A new appreciation for one another, a more vulnerable honesty, and… perhaps … a different sort of love growing between them. Because we also begin to see that maybe God will use this for their good after all. (Of course He will. That’s kinda His specialty.)
Bottom Line: Roadtrip for Two is a cute second chance romance with all the Hallmark vibes and a solid faith thread that avoids being preachy. Nathan and Bree aren’t perfect – who is? – but the changes to their relationship have grown them into more mature characters with a more realistic view of life and love. Amy R. Anguish did a good job of adding layers to what we already knew about these two protagonists and then taking us deeper still into those layers until we can see a little of ourselves in each of them. Looking forward to Skye’s story next!
(I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I read via Kindle Unlimited.)
What a cute little story! I enjoyed the banter, the situations that Anguish puts her characters in to resolve their issues, and the gospel truths found within these pages. As Mama Hart says, “Faith is grown.” Loved this sweet book. Can’t wait to pick up the first and third in the series!
Roadtrip for Two is a book about second chances and having hope even when things seem like they can never work out. You will feel as if you’re apart of the adventure as you follow along with two engaging characters as they travel to new places and discover more about who they really are. You will be on the edge of your seat through the whole book to see if they have enough faith to find their way back to each other in the end.

The beginning of this book hit me with a surprise on page 1!! Another road-trip romance, this time about the bachelorette-trip-friend in book one, I thought I knew what would happen. I did not see it coming. I can't say more, but if you read book one, pick up book two - and book three comes out SOON!!!
This book is a fun, sweet look at two people on the road to marriage. I enjoyed how this story showed that going into marriage is something that needs to be considered seriously, not lightly. The two main characters were once engaged but broke it off due to miscommunications and lack of trust. They find their way back to one another via an unexpected road trip they end up taking together.
I enjoyed how the author grew each of the characters throughout the story. Both characters needed to work on themselves before being able to truly commit to one another in marriage. I also had fun exploring Dallas as they went on their adventures throughout this book.
For anyone who enjoys a sweet romance I definitely recommend this book. Its a sweetly satisfying, light read.
I received a free copy from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
The trope of road-trip romance/forced proximity is one that I gravitate toward, and I was excited to see that Amy Anguish has a whole series of these stories, with the next one (book 3) releasing soon! I chose to read book 2 first, which maybe wasn't the best choice (since apparently these characters are in the first book...I'll go back and read that one next). But I liked the idea of ex-fiancés going on a trip together, thanks to their meddling friends. Their time together started out pretty rocky, since they're both still hurting from their break-up, but eventually they find forgiveness and they find their way back to each other after some personal growth, which they both needed.
I recommend this book for fans of rom-com or sweet romance, or anyone who likes a good story about lost loves reuniting. It was an easy, feel-good read with a good message.
Another sweet, contemporary romance from Amy Anguish, the second in her Road Trip Series. Bree Henley and Nathan Hart are "real" people, like most of Amy's Book characters, with their faults, quirks, and strengths. Honestly, I didn't like Nathan at first. He seems to go out of his way to find fault with Bree, and he isn't honest about why he broke their engagement at the last minute. Their time together in Dallas is a learning and growing experience for them both. They needed this time to better understand true love, commitment, and each other. And it's a reminder that what seems impossible for man is possible with God. I enjoyed exploring the city of Dallas with them and to meet Nathan's mom and Bree's parents.
I received an ARC of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.
A story showing messed up relationship & how the main characters figured it out. They eventually get to being willing to forgive & admit their fears. I enjoy road trips, especially on the motorcycle feeling the cool breezes &enjoying the different smells. A fun story.
I've waited and waited for this book, and it didn't disappoint. I read it in one sitting and couldn't put it down. I loved Bree and can't wait for the next in the series!
