I am a huge fantasy lover and this book definitely ticked all of my boxes. Natasha definitely has a way of creating incredible characters, that are easy to create bonds and attachments with. Obviously my favourites are Nesrin and Lukas, but I have fallen in love with each character in their own way.
I was kept on my toes the whole way through and I really struggled to put the book down. This story is action packed, romantic, smutty and just damn right incredible. Full of a mixture of my favourite magical creatures, that just keeps you guessing what will come next!
My heart has been through a ride of emotions with our beautiful Nesrin and I just need to know what happens next!
I was so incredibly lucky to be sent a signed copy of Natasha's debut novel by the author herself!

I'm so glad I chose this book to read. There were many wonderful books to choose from, and I'm glad I settled on this one. I only just learned that this is Natasha's debut novel, which impressed me even more.
I love fantasies in general, but normally you don't get to have characters older than twenty in them, which is one of the reasons I chose this. She's also a single mother to her sisters little daughter. This book had lots of action and magical creatures.
It follows Nesrin and her journey to discover her family's past. She gets the protection from a wolf pack when she saves two wolf cubs. I also loved Lukas! I was kind of worried when I realized he was an alpha, sometimes these kind characters can be poorly written, but Natasha did a great job fleshing him out. He's not just someone you like because of: ‘he's the hot alpha, so you're supposed to.’ type of trope. It's not forced on the reader.
The side characters are also well thought out, too. Sometimes I don't like when all the characters are introduced almost immediately in the beginning of books, but it honestly worked well in this book. It's hard to add too much more I loved without spoiling it, but this definitely a five star read, especially for a debut author.
I'm definitely checking out the rest of the series out as soon as I can.

Definitely 3.5! You really get connected with the characters from the beginning. Not only does the surrounding mythology and story pull you but the there is a lot that happens fast paced!

Hm. Hmm… I really struggled with this review. I enjoyed the plot but as a published book, it really needs to be polished up.

Chosen by Destiny follows Nesrin, a witch/wolf shifter hybrid who discovers that she is being hunted thanks to her family’s controversial bloodlines. When Nesrin saves two wolf shifter cubs in her bookstore from hunters, she earns the protection of the Pacific Northwest pack. Especially its Alpha, Lukas. It’s quick to see that they obviously share a bond.

I really did enjoy the storyline and I found it especially cool that Nesrin had relations to Red Riding Hood. It was pretty clever how the author created her own version of the fairytale character. I lost count of how many creatures are in this book. We had trolls, sprites, witches, shifters, a satyre, a banshee… every mythical creature under the sun! I also really loved the use of magic throughout the story. Like proper, fairytale magic! I’ve noticed with books that have witches in them that the magic isn’t as… magical… to avoid cliches. The author of this book embraced the cliche and it was so good!

I find that for fantasy books to be unique and set apart from others on the shelf, the authors have to come up with quite an elaborate and sometimes confusing plot. This book isn’t one of those. It’s simply about a group of people with strong beliefs going against an “illegal” bloodline. For me, some guy getting annoyed he lost the witch girl to a shifter just wasn’t a good enough reason to wipe out an entire bloodline. Then again, jealousy can do crazy things to humans, so when you’ve got some witch magic coursing through your veins I imagine you go a bit power obsessed. I didn’t really see this as a negative though, but found it refreshing not to decipher another complicated fantasy outline and just enjoyed immersing myself in such a magical world.

Unfortunately there was one big negative of this book and while it doesn’t relate to the storyline in itself, it is quite an important part of publishing a decent story. I don’t like writing negative reviews, rather focusing on the positives but… The grammar and spelling left something to be admired for a published book. Of course with self-published books sometimes you might expect they’re not as “polished” as books published with traditional publishing houses. But for me since the layout of the book was so messy it distracted me from the storyline and I found myself unable to enjoy it in most parts because I was getting too frustrated.
I know that some people like spaces between each paragraph rather than indents but this was a bit distracting for me. If you look at it from a business perspective, less spaces means less paper which would lower production costs. If this is how the author likes their stories laid out then that’s their decision but I found it to feel like I was reading a screen play.
A spelling error which came up a few times was drawer being spelt as draw. Capital letters were also missing, for example Red Riding Hood, but then in the following sentence it did have a capital letter.
Then there was the dialogue. I’ve found that dialogue rules varies between editors. While it’s generally the same as a whole, there are bits which are done differently with each book. This book was swaying back and forth between professionally edited and it not being edited at all. It’s a very tedious thing to pick on but this really stopped the story from flowing and I found it would jeopardise the reader enjoying what is a story that has the potential to go big with supernatural/shifter fans. Things I found was that an entire paragraph would be written and then the character speaking would be put at the end when really it should’ve been as a new line. Sometimes there would be two people taking in the same paragraph and it got super confusing as to who was talking. There were commas where a full stop should be when the character had done an action of some sort rather than continuing to talk. Then we would have the opposite where a full stop was used where a comma should’ve been and a lower case letter after when it should’ve been a capital after .”
Of course this is just me being extremely picky but since this is the first book of the series I would hope the editor might polish up the following books if it wants to compete with the big guns rolling out of publishing houses.

Let me start with: I received a copy of this book from the author in advance of an ARC of the sequel, Marked By The Gods. Thank you, Natasha Madden, for this wonderful opportunity to read both your books. I was distracted and took forever to finally read it, and now I'm questioning why I waited so long.
This book is soooo good. It checks all the boxes for a great metaphysical world fantasy.

Nesrin is such a fun, fiery & strong leading lady. You meet her in Portland, Oregon as she struggles with navigating life as a single parent of Astra(ea). You quickly discover she's magical & raising her sister's daughter due to a tragic accident. She's also hiding their magical powers from most & hiding Astra from even more. She knows her family has been persecuted for centuries for their witch bloodline & she feels as if she must hide, even where nearly no one knows them. Word has gotten around that she's a witch & the local coven has been pursuing her & refusing to take "No" for an answer.
Oh...did I fail to mention that she is a Healer & was chased out of the woods by a Wolf pack??? I did, didn't I. My apologies. Once out of the woods, she gets the distinct impression she's being watched & spots a male figure at the edge of the woods watching her. She knows she should feel threatened, but doesn't really. She's almost intrigued.
Soon, we meet Marcus, Grace, Marvin, Blue, Lukas & Zee & that's all within the first 10% of the book. Each of these characters plays an important role in the development of the story & Lukas is the strong Alpha male, in more ways than one. Generally, I'm a role my eyes at the stereotypical Alpha male, but Lukas 100% deserves & fits the role without being overly annoying. I mean...he has his reasons & they are legitimate. So bring on that big Alpha personality.
I'm not a spoiler kind of girl, so that's all you get for a storyline tease. What I really liked, besides the story itself, was good character development for all of the players. There's mystery where there needs to be, but there are no glaring anomalies as each character develops. There's action & the book is fast paced. I read it in 2 short & 1 long sitting. I stayed up way too late last night to finish it, but I couldn't put it down. There are twists & turns, triumps & a few tears. It does end on a cliffhanger, but luckily, I have the next book. 😉
I guessed a few key plot moments & I'm still waiting to see if I'm right about another. I don't think that took away from the story, if anything, it made me feel more connected. After all, it isn't a Who done it.
My only criticism, there are some editing issues. Not terribly distracting, but one had me rereading the full paragraph prior to ensure it was an error & I didn't miss something. It is self published, so I give it some grace due to this being her first novel.
All in all, a solid 4.25/5 story. I'll leave it at a 4.0 due to the editing errors, only because there were a few that were distracting.
Unless you're the editing police, if you're a lover of the paranormal, metaphysical world, you'll really enjoy this story.

This book is another attestation to my love of debut novels and authors! Natasha brings her unique world to the table with some familiarity and some differences to our favorite fantasy creatures. Mix in some spice, pour in a touch of suspense and a love story with all the feels!

When Natasha said this series is a gritty, sexy, action-packed urban fantasy, and paranormal shifter romance, she meant it. Chosen By Destiny includes a vast selection of mythology and lore which I found very captivating. The world building was done well and I felt I was able to create images of the settings in my mind, without it feeling overwhelming. You also can't help but feel strongly about the characters she's created, whether that's loving to hate them, or just loving them in general! The only thing I found through reading though, was that there was a lot of events and information over a short period of time, which then felt like the book became a little repetitive. Almost like there was too much conflict and rising action, too many times, just to information dump, without the plot really developing. I am hoping in the next book, it slows a little now that we seem to have quite a lot of vital information about Nesrin and those close to her, and focuses more on the storyline and where Nesrins findings take her. I look forward to reading the next book soon!

this is the first fantasy book I’ve ever read, and it was mildly entertaining like it was very much fantasy focused till it was romance and that put me off it for like a good couple weeks and then I went back into it and I just powered for the rest, because you have sold it as a fantasy book the definition, the blurb is all about a fantasy book, and then we have this mildly amusing romance throughout the whole thing and the romance. It feels so forced and comfortable to read and everything every situation every bad thing just happens so conveniently there’s been a lot of plot holes and I sound and the writing style is very immature and weak. It’s not one of the best books I’ve ever read. It’s definitely not gonna be a 5 out of five for anyone. This book was entertaining. It kept me kept my attention a little bit not enough for me to not put it down because I just got bored for the book sometimes, and I felt I was dragging my way through it.

All we can hope for when picking up our next read is to be captivated enough that we’re struggling to put it down. To be invested by the end of the first couple of chapters is my initial hope and indeed I was.
This is closely followed by the need to enjoy the characters. I love that this author gave enough depth, charm and story to every character, good and evil, all whilst staying close to the main character Nesrin.
Then of course, the plot. We need a story after all and hope for a good one.
We follow Nesrin in her journey of uncovering truth’s of a past that still haunts her family, the evil at the hand of it all and her fight to protect her secret and all she has left. Told among a world of sorcery, creatures from the realm of both fantasy and ancient mythology and all played out on a modern day canvas. This book has so much content and it all gels. Woven together with drama, adventure, action and romance.
I can not wait for book two.

I dit not like the book. I absolutely loved it! The story just grips you and takes you into the world of Nesrin the witch (or is she) and Lukas the wolf. And all the friends and pack. Not to be forgotten the little one Astraea whom Nesrin is taking care off.
I really do not want to give away to much about the story.
The back speaks for itself self but I did not read that before I started and I’m really happy about that so I was going in with a open mind. So if you really love a good fantasy book about witches, wolfs and other magical creatures then you really need to read this book from Natasha who has a amazing way off story telling that only wants to make you read more and more. The magical world is so will written. This is absolute getting 5 stars.

A must read debut novel for fantasy/ adventure/ romance lovers!
So much I love about this book, it ticks every box for me in ways that a wonderfully put together book does.
Nesrin and Lukas will have you swooning, I love love love them!
The dynamic between the main characters, as well as the side characters will have you smiling, I love the loyalty in the friendships formed between the characters, reading more about them, as well as Nesrin and Lukas has me excited for more! and I cannot wait to see what’s next for them!

Chosen by Destiny is a action - packed urban fantasy and paranormal shifter romance by Natasha Madden.
This fantasy debut novel had everything I could ask for in a novel and more. Brilliant characters, a great plot, suspense, some spice and a love story that will leave you wanting more.
This is a brilliant debut novel from Natasha Madden, it had me gripped from the very first chapter and left me wanting more.
I truly recommend this novel and can't wait to read more by the author.

Likable Characters
For a debut novel, it was pretty good. The main female character was strong, kind, and had some fire without being unbearably annoying. The main male character is strong and supportive without being overbearing. The side characters are pretty good too and I’m hoping they continue to be fleshed out more in the next books. The plot was interesting and I’m excited for the next book. There were some editing issues but nothing major and nothing that put me off the story.

mmm lukas
So it took me a while to finally get around to this one, because well, life! lol but wow!! I’m glad I finally picked it up! Oooooof
I definitely found myself drawn in almost instantly! I got to around 50%-60% in one sitting! I just couldn’t put it down!
I was also totally hoping for a little lukas and zee teaming up if you catch my drift, but alas it’s not a why choose hahaha

So it took me a while to finally get around to this one, because well, life! lol but wow!! I’m glad I finally picked it up! Oooooof
I definitely found myself drawn in almost instantly! I got to around 50%-60% in one sitting! I just couldn’t put it down!
I was also totally hoping for a little lukas and zee teaming up if you catch my drift, but alas it’s not a why choose hahaha

For a debut novel, this is amazing! The storyline and characters have all been well thought out and developed. I absolutely love that the main character is a single mother, too, and that so many mythical creatures have been beautifully woven into the story. Can't wait to get into the next book in this series!

I can't believe this is her first novel, but it's a great debut. It does end on a small cliffhanger, but the characters and world building are well written, and I can't wait for the next one.

I loved Nesrin's story! This one was absolutely amazing! I think that this was the Author's Debut and it was well done. The Characters and the story make this outstanding! I am So Looking forward to the next book. I Loved It!!! No Spoilers!

Brilliant first book by this author. Loved everything thing about it and the wide range of characters is a delight. Really hoping this author expands on this world and we get books about some of the other characters introduced here. Bring on the next one.

I like the book, read it in one day. Off to read book two. I like the snarkiest between the main characters. I love Zee’s laid back surfer dude attitude. Good story line. She could become one of my always reads. We’ll see.

A gorgeous debut novel that is a perfect book to go back and read and see all the threads of Natasha’s stories, right from the start.

I loved seeing the dynamic develop between Astra, Nesrin & Lukas. It was beautifully written and does leave you wanting more. This is only a 3 star for me personally, however The plot was amazing and the work building and backstory creating is brilliant
