Following the disastrous meeting at the Meryton Assembly, Elizabeth Bennet is adamant she will avoid the pompous Mr. Darcy of Derbyshire at all costs. That, however, is easier said than done. Fate appears determined to throw them together again and again. But is it really fate? Soon, Elizabeth must wonder if there isn’t more at play. Her family and friends are acting oddly. Her sister Lydia and dear friend Charlotte have both taken unexpected trips out of town. Jane, so eager to be around Mr. Bingley at the ball, suddenly can’t stand being near the man. Everything is just... off. Most confusing is the whirlwind of feelings she has for Mr. Darcy. One moment she cannot stand him, the next she feels as though he is the part of her that’s always been missing. Everything becomes even more bizarre when her family takes in her cousin’s son as a ward. Lizzy forms an instant bond with the cute little boy, but the strange visions and flashes start to haunt her day and night. Is there something special about the child or is she losing her mind? Lizzy sets out to find the answers. But, when she finally discovers the shocking truth about her loved ones, will she ever be able to forgive them?
Mr. Darcy’s Mysterious Baby is a sweet and clean variation of Jane Austen’s timeless classic, Pride and Prejudice, and it’s above 56000 words long.
Hard to write a review without spoilers. The discombobulated neginning flourishes into a most original vagary replete with all our favorite characters and behaviors. Very well -written, original story arc.
The story is very original. I liked to try and find out what was happening before it was revealed. It just needs to be revised because there are typos everywhere.
I admit that I was quite confused about what was happening in Meryton during the first few chapters. Elizabeth becomes ill after being at Netherfield for a ball and recovers a few days later and so much has changed - Lydia is in Brighton ( but the militia has just arrived in Meryton) and Charlotte is in London having a season ( not one word before she left) Mary and Kitty are fighting, Maria Lucas is sneaking brandy, and Jane can't stand being around Charles. After one one meeting with Darcy Elizabeth has a serious hatred of him and is blaming him for everything. Well, I wasn't going insane - Elizabeth had a severe fall and has lost her memories of the past 3 years as Elizabeth Darcy...and has a young child. Head injuries were strange occurrence with little understanding in 1800's and memory hadn't been studied. The plan was to make her believe its 1811 and hope she remembers... They tried to tell her the truth but she became uncontrollable and was sedated. It's an interesting concept and the fact that Darcy got the entire town of Meryton to go along with him is astounding!
I was not anticipating the emotional rollercoaster this book put me through 💀💀 I won’t spoil so this review will just be mind bafflingly vague yw 😂
Stories like this are so bitterly poignant because you can feel the complete and utter love between the two characters, and you know the truth of the situation pretty early on (earlier if you read some reviews lol) but the fact that the couple are kept apart hurts so much. If you don’t like angst then this is NOT the book for you because the entiiiiiiire thing is angst pretty much lol.
The ending—it made me cry, so much. Don’t worry it’s a happy ending but the story is just so beautiful that you have to cry, to do anything else is impossible. I will be putting this on my reread list, not only is the story unique but it’s well crafted and beautiful and with the exception of a handful of small typos it’s professionally done.
Rating is pg loves ❤️ just have stress food and tissues nearby 🥹
Very disjointed and illogical plot with many typos. A good editor and proofreader would help tremendously. It was difficult to read and I was often tempted to quit without finishing.
Fairly well written with an interesting twist. But takes a bit too long to get to that plot twist. The teasing comments about the character's reality, disclosed in the twist, is an annoying plot device that interrupts flow and takes readers out of the moment.
The characters are well drawn and voiced.
Numerous typos, along with an occasional wrong or missing word mean more copy editing is needed.
I really liked the concept of this story, though if I had not read a spoiler I would have been completely confused for about one quarter of the book. Elizabeth has hit her head in a riding accident and now the last three years of her life including her marriage is lost. Mr Darcy and her family reset time to help her regain her lost memories. The ensuing struggle between Elizabeth and Darcy is very real as he loses hope of ever getting her back. This book was very poorly edited with misspelling, a couple of contradictions and just awkwardly arranged sentences. If you can get past that, the story is satisfying.
Will she or won't she remember? Can he or can't he forget her?
This story was totally engrossing. Why would it take to get nearly an entire village to band together to help Elizabeth get her memories back? Read and see the lengths people are willing to go through in order to her. To the very end, you'll find yourself wondering, will she or won't she remember? This story was so good I read it in two sittings. Enjoy !
This book is hard to review without writing spoilers - and that in and of itself is a kind of spoiler. Elizabeth is trying to figure out her thoughts while observing that everything around her is a bit off. As the story is revealed the love for Elizabeth is displayed all around her as she comes to terms with the situation.
Very impressed with the different plot line in this book. I won’t give a synopsis, however, very pleasantly surprised with the writing and plot. Most P&P variations could be retitled “infatuation and cowardice” but this is different. Bravo Ms. Abbott!
Amnesia and the family’s attempt to cure it. It was a quick read no real villains just unfortunate happenstances. But I just didn’t feel much of anything g for any of the characters.
Very enjoyable story that didn't try to rewrite the past. It gave us the love story with new twists. There were a lot of types and what looked like autocorrect errors though.
Spoilers: I would like to know if the author researched amnesia. Are Lizzy's experiences realistic? She so easily flies into a rage. Did not like that. Did not like the nicknames. Could use a bit more editting.
Elizabeth’s sem memória e um Darcy um pouco diferente: desesperado e sem bom senso. Sem grandes emoções e uma Elizabeth bem formada, final 100% previsível, sem muito sentido e sem muita emoção.

This was fun and much different than most of the variations I've read. It was also incredibly depressing (but in a fun way?) and could have easily been half the length with more emotional punch.
This book took a good twist on the story and kept me captivated throughout the reading. I however had serious problems with the editing. There were many errors. Please rectify this as it is not fun to read a book while editing.
2,5 rounded up. Because it was not that bad. Although, it seems no research or effort was made to vocabulary or regency speech, and the title has nothing to do with the story, even if she does have a child, it is not The important point in the intrigue.
I've read many books with this premise but this is the first one I couldn't put down! I wanted to know how she finally remembered! I will now follow this author!
