With the silver-eyed Hux returned – though not entirely himself – Nell and the others must race against time to restore the Void, before their world is irreversibly overrun by cosmic threats. But in order to reclaim their future, Nell and Hux must also face the tragedy of their pasts... and the lifelong fears that have haunted them ever since.
This is the final installment in the Dread Void series!
Abe Moss has been writing horror stories for as long as he can remember, and hopes to never stop. He loves creature-features, psychological horror, supernatural horror, cosmic horror, you name it. With each book he writes, he hopes to try something a little different. The possibilities are endless and that's what he really loves about storytelling. He hopes you'll enjoy his stories, too!
I loved every book in this series. I waited, wished and hoped for the next book in the series. The book was amazing just in how it pulls you right into it and does not let you put it down. I fell in serious love/like with Hux, Nell, Lisa and Tessie. Then they found Hux's son! I wish the series could go on and on. But honestly any book Abe Moss has written and will write will be on my book shelf.
An exceptional ending to the Dread Void Series. Abe takes you into an amazing fantasy world of devastation, fear, murder and so much more, but also keeps you grounded in the real world at the same time. I'm sad this has ended because I've thoroughly enjoyed every book in the series and wanted more. Whatever Abe writes next, I'll be waiting. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I feel like the series is anti-climatic. For instance:
1) At the beginning, Anne Marie was built like a mysterious and formidable woman (or witch). In the end, everything just happened like... "nothing". I expected a real battle of her so-called God with the others. In fact, we were not clear what happened to this God and only knew that she was suddenly "Godless".
2) When worlds interwove into one another, we expected different Leviathan entities clashed into one another. What we saw was just some creatures and monsters scaring the people. We did not feel the notion of "clashing worlds". That is, it was not cosmic terror. It was simply some monsters invading Earth.
3) The struggle between Francis and Nathan and that between Lisa and Anne Marie were simply too fast, or more precisely, "mediocre". I felt like the writing lacked the intensity and mystery at the beginning books. Instead, it was like a strife. One thing I did not understand was why Francis did not shoot Nathan but was ready to put the gun to Nell's head and Nell was his dear daughter as he often said.
4) Tessie was a witch but ended up being a mere street guider. It was like magic became a whisper in this last book vs. an intimidating power in the previous books. The fact that Tessie got along too fast with Nathan was also a bit weird, like too conveniently. We all wanted a happy ending, but this ending was forced.
5) The events surrounded Hux were numerous and confusing. I felt like this was a book to talk about Hux's memory and characters and the apocalypse was a mere theme. To this extent, I felt like the series was not of horror of any type. Instead, it was simply a paranormal adventure for teenagers. In other words, it completely lost its cosmic horror that we expected in the first few books.
6) The Void is the absolute because there is nothing bigger or deeper than the Void (hence the name "Void"). But the way the Void responded to Nell suddenly became like a parent who "preached" certain life lessons for his/her child. Well, Nell was literally its daughter, but then what is the Void? A sentient being? Or an absolute emptiness? What is the Void such that all other trespassers have to fear, be them cosmic leviathans or simply gigantic monsters? To this extent, the Void was no longer the mystery I thought of in this last book.
Having said that, I cannot deny that the writing was excellent when the story telling was stable and sometimes filled with smart humour. Also, it is challenging to write a long series. Thus, when the author was able to distinctly craft each character through this journey, I guess this was a big win. For that, I recommend any teenager to read the series. Perhaps they will find it more impactful and memorable than what I felt towards it.

I have read each book as they were released. Counting down the weeks/days SO excited for the next book & the next! I have thoroughly enjoyed these books from beginning to end! WHAT A RIDE!! I was 68% into another book when I got the email this book was out. HOW did I not see that coming??? Grrr!! Caught myself skimming to get through it faster then said "F it" & put it down, unfinished, to read this. Read 16 chapters the 1st day! I always hesitate to say anything about the story bc I don't want to give anything away....I'm not a spoiler 😇. I will say- I had to dab away a tear or two at the end, but it was a satisfying ending! I feel like my reviews are ridiculous- I am definitely a reader NOT A WRITER lmao!!!! I may not be able to put to words what exactly is in my head BUT I can say I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series because I SO thoroughly enjoyed it!! Abe Moss- I hope you take a super nice, WELL DESERVED, vacation after all that.... then get back to it because I am dieing to see what comes next LoL 💗💗💗
This was an awesome series. We meet Hux, this big ‘man’ who travels the dread void to help people when he is called. We meet 14 year old Nell in the first book as he saves her and their relationship has been a staple through the series. They have this special bond. Hux takes Nell to Tessie’s house through the void, for safety and Tessie takes her in. Tessie has her own special gift and it turns out Nell has her own special gift. All three people are quite different from each other and make their own little family. Nell starts helping Hux through some tough events. She develops her skills. Nell, Hux, Lisa (her friend) and Tessie go through traumatic events with kidnappings, break-ins, threats…all very dangerous and life threatening. There are also some unexpected revelations. The series end brings everything together one last time. I enjoyed the series and the characters. It was so well written and the story itself was awesome. I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review.
I have a love/hate relationship with this book. I love this story and all the rest in the series. I hate this is the last book and the series is over. This is the last in a much loved series for me. I've enjoyed the adventures of Nell, Hux, Lisa, Tessie and now Nathan. The book wraps the series up very nicely with no cliff hangers. I'm happy with the ending of the story and many of the events in it. It was full of action and had me reading it withing 3 sittings. I was so worried how this story was going to end and I'm really glad the way Abe Moss ended this story. Lots of creatures, action, scares, humor, and more. This is by far one of my favorite series of any books I've read. Thanks for the adventures and I will truly miss reading about Ness and Hux.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review.
I have been dreading the end of The Dread Void, but wow, what an ending! When the world is ending, and everything is going wrong, most people would just give up. Not Nell! She is a bad ass lead character that just won't stop until it's over. I've grown so attached to these characters, it's sad to say goodbye. This whole series has been amazing! Abe Moss is an extremely talented author. Looking forward to what he comes up with next! If you haven't read this series...get to it! Highly recommend!
This is the last book in the Dread Void series, and to be honest, I just couldn't put it down until I was finished. Over the course of the series I came to care about the characters so much and really wanted the best for them at the end of their story, but that's all I'll say. If you want to know you'll have to read it! And be sure to start at the beginning with book #1! I recommend this series to people interested in horror, science fiction, or creatures that are different from what we know in our world.
Thank you to Abe Moss for writing such an excellent series. Nell, Lisa, Justine, Tessie and Nathan fought the evil Francis and Anne Marie and thankfully won. They healed the void and Hux was back to doing clean up. The world would take a long time to be fixed. But the group had that time and each other as they all lived together in Tessie's house. I would love to have more about the Dread Void and how they set the world right again! One can wish
I actually started this first book by accident. ( I miss took it for another.) But I must say it was one of the best errors I have ever made. By the time I finished the last installment , I didn't want it to end. I have not had many books do that to me. I was so taken with every page. I would find myself holding my breath at times waiting to see what would happen next. This has been one of the best books I have ever read. Thank you.
I chose this series just for something to read before bed. Sleeping was hard to do, however. Right from the start, I was drawn in with wonder and action. The more I read, the more I wanted to read. The characters are so alive. The darkness, so captivating. I never knew what was going to happen next. Definitely not for the faint of heart. I'm not really sure how Abe Moss came up with all of this, but I love it.
The Void has been compromised by Anne-Marie and Francis. The world is ending as monstrous and powerful creatures are killing people and causing chaos. A restored Hux is not much help and Tessie's powers are waning? Will the Void ever be back to it's normal state? A suspenseful finale which had me on tenterhooks. Great world building.
Great wrap up to a wild ride of a series. Hex's journey is coming to an end as he battled to restore the void with Nell and battles his toughest fight, his own past. Moss is awesome he forms well developed characters and wraps them in exciting storylines. A great end to a great series. I was given an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
What a beautiful series! I thoroughly enjoyed Abe Moss's writing. His dialogue is hilarious, and poignant at times. His characters are complex, and lovable. I'll miss this world, but the ending was beautiful. What an enjoyable adventure it has been ! I definitely recommend this book and author. Thank you!
Wildly imaginative! Great, multi-faceted characters. Very unique plot. Vivid descriptions. This was a fast-paced, interesting read, that I found I did not want to put down! Kept me glued to the pages from the first page to the last.
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Holy cow, what a ride. These aren't my typical books, but after the first one, I was hooked. You fall in love with all the characters more and more as the story goes on. What an incredible journey it was. Aliens, voids, death, and everything in between. The final book got me all in my feelings, and I may have shed a few tears. I am SO glad I came across these and gave them a chance.
A fantastic ending to a fantastic series. I don't know what I'm going to do with my life now that this series is over, though. I'm going to dearly miss reading about these characters.
With book number one I was sucked into the Deaded Void. Although I hate to say goodbye to the characters I’ve grown to love this was an extremely good ending to the series. Staying true to the storyline.
Excellent series of fantasy books. Will miss hux .Nell.Lisa and all the characters. Really entertaining short but great storyline Will read more and miss books
Great journey through the dread void! This final book was intense and I was happy the way it concluded the series. The author has a writing style that I really enjoy. I have read most of his books and they have not disappointed.
I raced through all of the books in the series, including staying up until 3:15am to finish Book 8! The storyline kept me involved, but the most fascinating character to me was the Dread Void itself. So many ideas and descriptions to ponder....
This was a good end of the series! I like it’s take on what the world is and what comes after death! Overall, this was a really good series and I do think this was a good ending for it.
I just finished book 8 and what a ride this story was. An original horror/paranormal series that was dark and scary but the main characters are real in my head. My question tho is what happened to the beings in the castle who warned Lisa?
A great ending to a great saga, told by one with the skills to match the story. I read the first seven years ago and just found the ending here. It definitely did not disappoint. Read it!
I have enjoyed all the Dread Void series books. This one finishes the story arc begun earlier. I hope there are more Dread Void stories to come though.
