I do. This book as if by magic appeared - I can’t quite remember how. But it had a huge impact on me so much so I read the book twice and downloaded the audible version which I listened to whilst walking my pups.
This is a story of Siri Lindley. Who? Well you know when you watch a movie or read a book and think wow, who is this … who is this super woman of a person who after a gazillion setbacks just never gives up..and it stirs your whole being….. well THE is Siri.
Throughout this manual of life and lessons and self reflections that Lindley shares with the reader, we discover page by page how she suffered extreme highs and lows. Successfully beating a rare and fatal form of Leukemia, becoming a world champion triathlete, (she couldn’t swim initially), founding a horse rescue program in Colorado which has resulted in saving over 250 horses from the meat trade… PS at the beginning of this and her passion to save the horses she’d never even sat on a horse, but decided she needed to learn to ride and and went on to establish an incredibly close bond with these animals. Doing so she discovered the beautiful healing power that horses offer. Just one of Siri’s passions now is working with the horses and groups who battle with anxiety, PTSD, disabilities and grief. During her own extreme highs and lows Siri finally decided to be responsible for her well being and happiness and now shares strategies oh how to feel, see, access and work through pain by incorporating easy to follow chapter with assignments, prompts and lessons. Every time she faced with what seemed the impossible, she found a way to survive and thrive.
My most read chapters were the on The Power of Purpose, The Power of Resilience, The Power of Health but there are lots of subjects that may be what you’re looking for to move forward in life.
Whether you normally read this genre or not, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go because I’m sure there’s a helpful message in it for everyone. Siri now runs The Sirius Squad for those wanting to become a fitness warrior and Go First, a life coaching program. I don’t know how she does it all.. But she’s truly remarkable
Try this book for yourself to read about this truly wonderful, brave, woman.
I don’t normally read self-help or motivational books & if I do, they are normally very unlikely to be by American authors. I mean that not to be in any way disrespectful but just that for me, self-belief, empowerment & motivation are areas where the cultural attitudes & differences can be very apparent. Maybe I am just ‘typically’ Scottish in that I find that sugary sweet, be your own cheerleader kind of stuff a bit off putting - or maybe I’ve just been socially & culturally conditioned to think so?!
The books’ author is a world champion triathlete who decided she wanted to be a triathlete before she could even swim & someone who has overcome personal and health traumas. It is a book about Siri’s life but it also gives really practical & sensible tips about how to apply some of the life lessons. The reminders and assessments were particularly helpful.
I have some key takeaways that will be really helpful in the future; it’s really helped me to think more deeply & reflect much more. In a professional capacity I am always reflecting & adapting but reading this helped me to realise that I don’t always apply the same thinking in a personal capacity; it’s reminded me to ask myself some really important questions.
My favourite chapters were the ones on intention and health. The intention chapters were particularly helpful for me when thinking about my feelings around getting things wrong & failure. It’s something we all worry about isn’t it? The chapter just really helped me to see that my intention often shapes my feelings on the outcome. I know it’s not revolutionary but things that seem deceptively simple are often the most powerful and impactful.
Whether you normally read this genre or not, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go because I’m sure there’s a helpful message in it for everyone.
I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
When I first came across this book I didn’t know anything about the author or everything she has gone through and achieved. I was shocked and amazed by her sheer determination and zest for life.
This not my go to genre, I’m not normally one for reading self help books, but I was drawn to this one. I chose to listen to the audiobook along with reading the physical book too. The author narrates the audiobook, I found her easy to listen to and very enjoyable and engaging. The emotion of all her experiences really comes across as she is speaking. It was great to have the physical version too for all the exercises there are along the way.
I really admire Siri, for all her work with saving the horses, this story broke my heart of how the horses were treated. I never knew this before. But Siri and her wife have since saved so many horses.
Siri developed a rare type of cancer and today she is cancer free. There is of course a lot more to the story behind all this but I suggest picking up a copy of this book for yourself to read about this truly remarkable woman.
There are so many helpful tools in the book to find away to implement ways into your own lives to change how we act and do things.
I’ll certainly be using some of these tools to make changes myself. I highly recommend giving this a read or a listen as Siri truly is very inspirational.
When I chose this book, I knew nothing about Siri Lindley and the hurdles life has thrown in her path. I simply loved the title and positive cover photo. Often, my favorite books are chosen on a whim, and this is not an exception. Please read this. It’s a story of repeated triumph over trial, and the sheer will and mindset that allowed for such thriving. While I’m not facing the exact battles as the author, her writing made me feel like I could make it through anything. It filled me with hope and a bolder spirit, and will stay with me possibly forever. I love, love, love the message and spirit of this book. Highly recommended.
I absolutely loved this. It's so unique, wonderfully written and helps you put things in perspective.
It's easy to read and quite a few times it made me think of things that I needed to process in my rollercoaster of a life. It literally is like it says on the cover "Taking the impossible and making it possible".
It's another one that I will keep by my bedside for when times are tough, so I can revisit chapters to help me through.
