If you struggle to find time to pray or aren’t sure how or what to say to God, this little book is a gem. It is full of practical ways to fit prayer into your everyday routine and gives even you examples of how to pray for certain things or people. After reading this little book, you won’t have an excuse to not pray again or feel guilty for not “fitting” it into your day because it makes it so easy.

Say a Little Prayer, 101 Ways to Pray throughout Your Day by Joanne Redmond was 5⭐️.
My days are made up of many responsibilities and just as many distractions. This book was helpful for just those situations. If you were like me when I started praying you might not have had any idea how to pray. I needed help and examples. This is just that! Suggestion and previous Christian who prayed a long the way.
I recommend if you need a reminder and or suggestions for a routine prayer life.

Redmond wrote a gem of a book reminding us how to think of God and call upon God in even the most minute moments of our day. Gentle suggestions of things to pray for when brushing teeth, meeting a friend for lunch and putting on shoes. She offered great reminders to ask for discernment before spending money, going on social media, or grabbing the remote. I really enjoyed all the reminders and sweet suggestions of prayer. This isn’t a typical devotional where each day has a scripture reference and message. There is a minimal amount of actual scripture verses parsed through the book. I really enjoyed the messages and reminders in this book. They’re so simple yet so meaningful too.

This was a very quick, sweet book! It is definitely a flip-through book that you can read through in a day, though it is formatted by days 1-101. It is full of practical nuggets of different times to pray throughout your day and some specific things you can pray for. Here are a couple that stuck out to me:

"At night while brushing your teeth, thank God for three things that happened during your day."

"Have a difficult person in your life? Whether it be a manager, co-worker, spouse, or friend, ask God to help you to see that person as He does."

I do think this book could dive deeper into some of the specific prayers suggested or provide more Bible verses in relation to some of the suggestions. All in all, a sweet and quick read!

I received this e-book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Bible teaches us to pray without ceasing. How can we do that in a busy world? Is there an effective way we can pray especially in a world of short attentiveness and an increasingly attention-deficit world? How is it possible to pray all day? According to author Joanne Redmond, one way is to learn to pray short prayers throughout the day. She helps us expand our repertoire of prayer opportunities throughout the day with her "101 everyday ways to pray." It could be the start of the morning or the end of the day. It could be making a payment at a kiosk, reacting to a tense situation, typing on a computer, reading about troubles in this world, having a coffee, or just about anything that we encounter or do on a day-to-day basis. Each day has a specific idea for us to consider and practice throughout the day. Each short prayer idea is accompanied by an illustration, a prayer, a quote, a template, a Bible verse, or a prayer from selected spiritual practitioners. In fact, the brevity of the idea makes it an ideal pick-up prayer moment(s) each day. It is not meant to be skimmed through, but to be pondered and remembered throughout the day. When Redmond says it is a "little prayer," it literally is. After giving us a short idea, the length of prayer is really up to us. We can pray one long prayer from that idea, or we can have multiple moments of prayer throughout the day. We can also call these moments where the Spirit leads.

Three Thoughts
==================
Let me give three thoughts about this book. First off, I am reminded of Jesus' teaching to avoid babbling prayers. In the sermon on the Mount, Jesus warns us not to practice the Pharisaic forms of righteousness for self-gain. One of the key reminders is not to pray long prayers like the Pharisees to attract attention to ourselves when in public places. For such acts, there will be no heavenly rewards. He challenges his disciples to practice righteousness that exceeds the Pharisees and the religious leaders. Concerning prayer, that means praying in secret and not engaging in babbling long prayers. Even though God loves to hear our prayers, regardless of length, He is more concerned about the attitudes in our hearts. Making our words count and our hearts humble is a great way to please God.

Second, brevity is the in-thing. Growing up in a busy era where time management is the most common prayer request, I have many friends who want everything short and sweet. A few decades later, this desire has not dissipated. Instead, the mood to "save-time-so-that-we-can-do-more" has spread to many other parts of society. From long talks on the phone, people are preferring short texts. Across institutions, many speak in the abbreviated language. In a social media world, even abbreviated words are increasingly replaced with symbols and emoticons. With inflation these days, people try to get the most value out of their buck, which explains the modern maxim: "Do More With Less."

Third, it is hoped that this book can encourage us to pray more. Prayerfulness is a mark of a Christian. Prayer is trusting God to intervene in this world when things seem to be out of control. Most importantly, prayer is cultivating that relationship with God. Any book that can move people to pray more is always worth reading, and this is one of them.

Joanne Redmond is an executive communications leader who takes complex business concepts and creates succinct, easy-to-understand messages that inspire and motivate. She has a passion for helping people connect more frequently with God through everyday, practical ways.

Rating: 4.25 stars of 5.

Say a Little Prayer isn’t a “steps on how to grow your prayer life” book, but it is a beautiful book that definitely has the potential to grow your prayer life.. It’s a practical guide of suggestions of ways to include prayer throughout a typical day. It could be used as a “implement one suggestion a day for 100 days” resource, or it could be even more impactful by building some of the suggestions into one’s regular prayer life. Either way, the book provides easy ways to increase the amount of time the reader spends in conversation with God.

Thanks go to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I just reviewed Say a Little Prayer by Joanne Redmond. Thanks to Netgalley for the ecopy.
A little lovely reminder of being grateful for the things and people in life we can easily take for granted.
A good way to lift one’s spirits when one is convinced that the universe is conspiring against us.

First, thank you to NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this advance copy.

This book is 100 days of simple, quick prayer ideas to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). I do not have 100 days to write a review so I used it for few days and then read ahead.

I really struggled with this review because my first reaction was that I love this book and these prayer ideas are simple, easy, and (for the most part) something that I can incorporate into my life. And since there is one per day, it is easy to put that one into practice for that one day without being bogged down. However, each page is either one sentence (the daily prayer suggestion, or an inspiration quote or Bible verse that corresponds with the prayer) or a photograph. That's it. Each page contains just a few words. I feel that this would have been much better suited as a daily calendar or a physical book where one can write their thoughts, impressions, or prayer requests for the day.

For the reasons outlined above, I am giving this book 4 stars.

"Say a Little Prayer: 101 Ways to Pray throughout Your Day" by Joanne Redmond is a thoughtful and practical guide that encourages readers to integrate prayer into their daily lives. With a combination of pictures, Scripture verses, and quotations, Redmond presents various ways to connect with spirituality during everyday moments.

One of the strengths of this book is its accessibility. Redmond recognizes that many of us engage in routine activities such as drinking coffee, making purchases, brushing our teeth, and using our phones. She skillfully identifies these ordinary moments as potential opportunities for quick but meaningful prayer. By highlighting these relatable situations, she helps readers realize that prayer can be seamlessly incorporated into their busy lives.

The book offers 101 different ways to pray, providing readers with a diverse range of options to suit their preferences and circumstances. Whether it's a short prayer of gratitude, a moment of reflection, or a specific prayer for guidance, readers will find a multitude of ideas to inspire their own prayer practices. The inclusion of Scripture verses and quotations further enriches the book, offering additional insights and perspectives on prayer.

Redmond's writing style is concise and engaging, making the book easy to navigate. Each prayer suggestion is presented in a clear and concise manner, allowing readers to quickly grasp the idea and apply it to their lives. The inclusion of visuals, such as pictures, adds a visual appeal to the book and enhances the overall reading experience.

The central message of "Say a Little Prayer" is to encourage readers to pray without ceasing. Redmond emphasizes the importance of fostering a continuous connection with the divine throughout the day, rather than confining prayer to specific times or locations. This approach promotes a deeper sense of spiritual awareness and mindfulness in daily life.

One possible improvement could be the inclusion of more personal anecdotes or stories to further illustrate the transformative power of prayer in everyday experiences. While the book provides numerous prayer suggestions, a few additional real-life examples could help readers relate even more closely to the material.

In conclusion, "Say a Little Prayer: 101 Ways to Pray throughout Your Day" by Joanne Redmond is a valuable resource for individuals seeking to incorporate prayer into their daily routines. With its accessible approach, diverse prayer suggestions, and emphasis on continuous connection with the divine, the book serves as an inspiration to cultivate a more prayerful and spiritually fulfilling life. Whether you are new to prayer or seeking to deepen your existing practice, this book offers practical guidance and encouragement to embark on a meaningful journey of prayerful living.

The ideas in this book are broken down to cover 101 days, where the reader can dip in to find a prompt or idea either once per day, or whenever they want to. However, in order to review this book, it was necessary for me to read it cover-to-cover. I wouldn't recommend doing reading it this way, as the brief prompts are meant to inspire you to create your own prayer habits. It's definitely not an instructional manual where you need to read it front-to-back in order to understand or utilise the ideas.

I found the prompts really useful. The author creates space for the reader to be as flexible, structured, traditional, modern, loud, quiet, (you get the picture) as they want to be. I love how she comes from a "no wrong way to pray" standpoint. She debunks restrictive prayer "rules" that can leave us feeling disconnected, distracted, and disheartened about our failure to pray "correctly". It can be horribly off-putting and we can end up avoiding praying altogether. I think she does a great job of challenging this and offering a range of alternative ideas.

The author also suggests a great mix of prayerful activities, including speaking, writing, typing, singing, humming, dancing, visualisation, even crying! Tying these various methods into daily activities, like commuting, cleaning, exercising, or just showering, helps to provide a mental link/reminder to help you pray throughout the day, even if you've only got a moment to do so.

It's a lovely eBook, but I would definitely recommend grabbing a physical copy to dip in-and-out whenever you need a little helpful prompt to get the conversation flowing.

Say a Little Prayer by Joanne Redmond is due to be published on 6th June 2023.

Thank you to Joanne Redmond, Our Daily Bread Publishing, and NetGalley for providing me with a free advanced reader copy of this book for review purposes.

"When you have extra time to pray for friends and family, you can pray for someone whose names begins with "A," then "B," and go through the alphabet."

A variety of suggestions like this one are provided in this book about prayer. This book provides a variety of verses, tips and quotes about prayer. Because it is shorter in length, I think this would make a lovely little book to keep around to help your focus remain on prayer.
As someone who has attended church and practiced prayer for years, I would not say that I learned a lot of new principles. But I would say that the suggestions are practical ones and great reminders. Those who believe in God often want to pray more. This book could provide direction. Overall, the author did a good job of writing a book that could inspire others to pray more.
Due to the formatting of this book, I would recommend a tangible copy. The pictures would make more sense if they appeared next to writing rather than on a separate page. I also think it would be nice to put an actual bookmark in the page and stay with that particular prayer concept for a bit. While I know that you can make notes in an ebook, it is not really the same thing.
I did get to read an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. I requested the book. All opinions are my own.

Pros: I loved that this book was right to the point and offered simple but impactful suggestions on how to create more time for prayer. That is exactly what the title said, and it did offer a number of ways to talk to God. Many people can struggle to find time to pray, or they don't know what to say or how long to spend in conversation with God, and both of those things can make prayer daunting. This book did offer ways to include prayer, even if it is for just a quick saying, and it made it clear that it is about quality and not quantity.

Con: It was really short. There was little development on the ideas of how to pray throughout the day. However, nothing was missing or left up to the reader to figure out. I just thought it could have been longer, but since this book is for those short on time, well, it makes more sense that it can be easily read in a short burst of time.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a wonderful heartfelt small book.

I recently regained my faith with Christianity. And I don't mean the faith of "oh I say I believe cause this is the religion most of my country practises" but rather actually feel God more closely to my heart than ever before.

Being more new to Christianity means I seek to understand how to honor God in the best way possible. And while I do recognise that he accepts me being human therefore far from flawless I do want to show my devotion to him in the best way possible - therefore praying has been kind of a big deal for me rn.

This book was wonderful because it's everything it promises. Its a very good guide full of ideas that both new and old Christians will find helpful. And while I don't plan on employing all the ideas presented I still am incredibly thankful to the author for creating this book and helping me guide myself on how praying more often.

Say a Little Prayer by Jane Redmond is a fabulous book if you search for a daily contact with God. These times are more than hectics, there are no more certainties and praying God remains sometimes the only option that we have. Divided in many sections, for presenting you inspiration, prayer is not just seen as an aspect that must be observed in particular in the morning and evening: you will discover that you can continue to pray God in every moment of your day, asking little and big things, being inspired by HIM.

I found the book friendly and close to the exigences of people.

I love these kind of books because they present calm and relaxation and a healthy contact with a Divinity that in many cases we don't see but we can feel close.

Highly recommended book.

I thank Netgalley for the ebook.

Say a Little Prayer, 101 Ways to Pray throughout Your Day is a practical book listing when and where we could say a prayer. Joanne Redmond points out how simple it is to always be ready to offer up a prayer of thanksgiving, gratitude or a plea for help in our daily lives. Not especially deep but oh so very eye opening.

The gift book list useful and concrete ways to spend your day focused on God and communicating with Him. Quotes by others are included in the list. The words that come to my mind with this simple book are realistic, sensible and down-to-earth. A welcome addition to any tabletop or area where you or your family could easily pick it up to read a suggestion or two.

FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book. These are my honest thoughts.

This collection of ideas of how to incorporate prayer into one’s daily routine was delightful, easy to read, and quite an encouragement. I already do many of the tips (I don’t find it odd at all to pray in the restroom, by the way), but there were plenty that were new to me. It was good to see the Bible verses and other encouraging quotes included.

I particularly appreciated that the author suggested one ask for patience if one needs it. I’m of that same opinion, and it’s worked rather well for me in the past.

The irony was that the author failed to include thanks to God in the acknowledgements for His help in writing this book about prayer.

Say a Little Prayer was a quick read that I chose because prayer is the greatest struggle for me in my walk with Christ. The cover is absolutely stunning— books with flowers on the cover always grab my attention.

I liked many of the suggestions offered [ex (paraphrased): to pray for discernment/time management when opening your phone to check social media]. Many of the suggestions were practical prayer prompts, but I would have preferred a deeper dive into these. Say a Little Prayer would have worked best as a prayer journal, with prompts and questions for each day, and then space to reflect. Since it wasn’t written as a journal, the prompts felt a little choppy.

I would have also liked to see more scripture through the book— more of a thorough dive into what prayer looked like in scripture along with each prompt.

Overall, Say a Little Prayer was a great concept, it just fell a little flat in execution.

I was so glad that I was given the opportunity to read this book! It did not take a long time to read, but the impact lingered! It was easy to understand and put into practice. Short suggestions were presented, which made it so practical. It was easy to pick up any time for moments during the day. One example suggested on the way to meeting a friend, pray that God would open your heart to whatever He would like you to learn from them (as well as meet their needs.) It was meaningful to be reminded about this idea to ask God to show Himself and His love to you, and then watch for the answer. The beautiful pictures added a lot, too.
I appreciate the publisher for allowing me to read this book. My thoughts are my own.

A little book of encouragement on prayer.
“Sometimes we make prayer harder than it has to be” - it’s short and inspiring words that will help you build a closer relationship with God, as any relationship cannot grow or flourish without open and honest communication.
It’s a thoughtful and practical guide, simple and easy to use - it’s not a book of prayers but rather fresh, creative prayer ideas.
Using scripture verses, pictures and quotations, suggesting a 101 ways to pray throughout the day, incorporating prayer into everyday activities, identifying ways we can connect with God throughout the day, whether brushing our teeth, having a coffee or exercising.
God Almighty loves us and wants to hear from us.

Short and sweet ideas of ways to pray throughout the day. It reminds me of Atomic Habits in combining actions you already do (brush your teeth/go to the bathroom) with cues to remember to pray. Would make a sweet 'gift book.' Wished that it included more artwork instead of pictures that felt like they were stock photos.

This is a great little quick read book with short ideas for helping us all to remember to pray more. Or give guidance for those of us looking for ideas on how to pray more. Cute little sayings, easy read, could read one page a day or go through the book quickly. I got some good ideas out of this book. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for ways to implement praying more. The ideas could be applied to children and/or adults both! This is my first book from this author, and would be willing to read more of Joanne Redmond books based off this one!

This delightful little book gives the reader a 101 daily prayer ideas. Some of the ideas are ones that might be obvious to a person who prays or wants to pray regularly. Others are fresh and good reminders of ways to pray without ceasing. Also, you will find among the pages scriptural context for different kinds of prayers and times for praying. I found the book to be a lovely reminder for ways to sneak more prayer into my daily activities and a terrific resource to encourage me in my devotional time with the Lord.

A very quick read with some practical tips to pray more often. Some were repetitive, and others felt like facts rather than actual tips, but overall it was a great list. Artistically, it's beautiful too. The photos don't really seem to match the feeling, IMO - or maybe it was the way it was styled, with a small photo instead of something that took up the whole space. Either way, the feel of it was still modern and good.

It seemed ironic, though, that she wrote a whole book about how to pray more and talk to God more, yet she didn't thank God in her acknowledgements.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free copy in exchange for this honest review.
