Ethnic Identity in China: The Making of a Muslim Minority Nationality

Rate this book
This case study introduces students to the problems of ethnic diversity in China, a modern nation-state that is normally thought of and taught as culturally monolithic. By introducing students to the wide diversity of identity within one nationality, they are exposed to the ethnic complexities as well as to the larger issue of ethnic pluralism in modern nation-states. Students' perceptions regarding other societies, as well as our own, are challenged and broadened.

基本上是Muslim Chinese一書的簡要版,參考書目也沒有更新。感覺更像是課本。如果直接讀這書的話,應該能更快掌握Muslim Chinese的主要內容與論點。

a rewrite for undergrad teaching! AWESOME!
His educated guess about the emergence of an Hindian people in Indian parallel to the emergence of Han Chinese after Sun Yat-sen's schema, so right to the point! Today we have Hindutva movement, very much in the same style the Han Chinese .... sb has to do a comparative study, NOW!
