Jacky & Raff and the Language of YES: A Heartwarming Children’s Picture Book About Inclusion, Friendship and Positive Communication

Rate this book
“There’s a YES behind every NO… and speaking your YES will help your Mama understand you.”

Jacky and Raff and the Language of Yes is an inspirational and beautifully illustrated book for kids ages 3-7 that teaches toddlers, Pre-K, and early elementary readers the essential life skills of inclusion, kindness, and individuality.

When an argument with his mom sends the upset Jacky running for the trees, he finds himself face-to-face with an unexpected new friend. With the help of the wise and friendly giraffe, the headstrong little jackal soon learns the value of using the ‘Language of YES’. But, is learning enough? Can Jacky use his new positive communication skills to make up with his mom and prevent future arguments?

Jacky & Raff and the Language of YES is the first volume of Viki de Lieme’s Mindfulness book series for children and teaches preschoolers and young readers about finding the YES hidden behind every NO (and kids say a lot of NO!). It is also about saying YES to unexpected friendships, listening skills and positive verbal communication with parents. Jacky and Raff is sure to become your child’s favorite bedtime story, as they follow the young animals into the vibrantly illustrated savanna and learn valuable morals and self-discovery skills.

“Not all enemies will eat you,” said Raff. “Some enemies will block you from having a great life or getting along with others. Sometimes those enemies are your own words.”

Why the language of "Yes!"

1) I liked the language of Yes, it seemed to make everyone happier and more agreeable with each other.
2) I would recommend this for young and old, that may banish arguments.
3) This pattern of communicating is so much better than hearing even silts arguing with each other as well as between child and parents= more peaceful and less stressful for all those around this situation.

nice

Jacky is lucky to find a friend like Raff, a glass half full kind of guy who doesn’t push his ideas on his new friend but gently makes them available. Doesn’t take long for Jacky to put Raff’s suggestions to use, much to his benefit. Just-right illustrations enhance this engaging story.

The Power of Yes

Sometimes, kids don’t really want to share their thoughts and this book will help ease their fears for them to say what really are the reasons behind their tantrums and No’s. It gives the kids an idea that mommy (or daddy) just really want to know and will love them no matter what.

Love this!

Sometimes, our words can be our biggest enemy. Everyone wants to feel seen and heard, and if we find the YES behind every NO, maybe we can avoid unnecessary power struggles. Such a simple but powerful message!

Jacky struggles to get along with his mama, always yelling NO! This is a big thing for most kids. No. No. No. But Jacky meets a new friend who teaches him a better way to use his words. Wonderful story.

I loved the illustrations and the topic. Many families fight over the little things and makes for a bad day. If we just learn to listen to each other the world would be a better place.
