The series continues and so does the action...

Set in the late 1890’s and the very early 1900’s the British are still in East India fighting rebels many of them crossing over from the relative safety of Afghanistan to fight with their tribal brothers against the British. This book is the 11th of the 14 book series and is superbly written by a man very experienced in early warfare. The history woven into the story is accurate but not does interfere with story as some books do. I’ve enjoyed reading this series from book 1 and know that either read as a series or just one book as a stand alone you will not be disappointed.

Ogilvy Triumphs

Yet another fine addition to the series! Scope of knowledge used to convey the plot combined with the usual strong characters about a time and place in history that one usually does not see much about. Excellent read!

Just another day for the Raj

This story has intrigue, kidnapping, multiple villainous characters, and the always heroic James Ogilvie. This time James has to help rescue the wife of his cousin from Afghan tribesmen, who plan to use her as a bargaining chip in the settling of a land dispute. The thing that held my interest was the idea that the Raj was more important than anything else. Also the idea that men of the gentlemanly or wealthy class aren't always the best officer material some of them could use a swift kick in their collective behinds. Luckily James Ogilvie is not one of these, but a decent officer well liked by his men even when he acts strangely. If you like adventure stories then get this one.
