I picked this up from the library after reading an article about the perfume museum in Istanbul, Turkey, and being mesmerized by the fancy perfume bottles on display. Just hours after I read the article, I spied a pretty vintage perfume bottle at a thrift shop and bought it, which sparked a fun conversation with the cashier. The scent lingered inside, and it was awful. But it still has me on the lookout for old perfume bottles when I go to thrift stores from now on. You never know what you're going to find. And some of the lingering scents may actually be pleasant.
There are a few modern perfume houses that use fancier bottles, but they're not nearly as common anymore. But to have a beautiful scent inside of a bottle that is a work of art seems to add another layer of pleasure for the senses. I've been toying with the idea of buying beautiful bottles to pour some of my body sprays into, just so that they feel fancier and so that they're an object of beauty.
Anyhow, this book has nearly 300 pages of pictures of beautiful and interesting perfume bottles from years gone by, along with information about the perfume that was in the bottle and the price the empty bottle is worth. It's more of a book of pictures rather than a book you'd sit down and read.
