After years of distance and longing, the two can come together to kindle a love that was unattended to. Peck's courage and Kate's honesty enmesh to change many lives for the better. This gut-wrenching story will leave you with the question: "What would you do?"
LOVED the book, Do You Remember by Davis Ehrler. It pulled me in right from the start with its unique scenarios. A happily married woman, Kate, had an unconventional request from the wife of Peck, Kate's first love, to spend a weekend alone with him. Kate and Peck haven’t spoken for decades. They each had their own families. It had me so curious how this could potentially happen without negative marital or family consequences. Why would people close to them, especially their spouses and children support this private reunion? Davis Ehrler does a great job of convincing the reader that, while risky, the meeting was necessary. As the reader, it gave me conflicted emotions. On one hand I couldn’t wait for the meeting and all the details, but on the other hand I couldn’t imagine how their significant others would manage through that weekend. I felt the distress of their time together winding down and how the heck these two could possibly say goodbye. I couldn’t imagine how they would be able to return to their lives as they were before the reunion. The characters were relatable, and the layout of the novel helped understand different perspectives. Davis did a fantastic job making it believable and unpredictable, while making us wonder what that would be like if we had a “Peck” situation. I was hooked all the way through to see how it could possibly end and was not disappointed. Can’t wait to read the next book Davis writes!!!
Reading the back cover I got chills….. that sets the tone for this book that has ALL the emotions. Do You Remember is the perfect lay by the lake read, the perfect Spring in the garden read, and the perfect cozy on the couch under a blanket read. You will feel all the things from nostalgia, sadness, closure, and mostly happiness and peace. A special kind of love story…. One for the ages. My only critique is that Kate and Peck’s story came to a close. I hope Davis writes more because that’s all this book left me wanting…. More of her writing.
I fell instantly in love with Davis Ehrler’s debut novel, “Do You Remember.” It’s a beautiful love story you will no doubt find yourself in. Its about having the courage to not leave things undone or unsaid before you run out of time. The waves of emotions are so gracefully intertwined. I laughed and I cried but my most favorite feeling is that of awakening the soul. Searching through parts of myself, reaching the honest depths of wanting to be a better version of myself, just as each character in Davis novel became. The richness in writing will put you in awe. She’s quickly become a favorite author and I cannot wait to read more.
Davis’ book captures a classic young love story stuck in time. Peck & Kate have had a soul connection for as long as they can remember and the stars never aligned for them. They had one last chance to heal wounds they forgot existed, and they took it. A reminder that life is short, there are pieces of us in every person we love, and to leave no stone unturned in our journey of life. You will resonate with some powerful messages in this book! A fun and touching read.
Davis Ehrler’s debut publication is an engrossing story about listening to and honoring your heart. Her unvarnished honesty took me to some uncomfortable places and a spectrum of emotions; compulsively pulling me in and kicking off much needed introspection that I’m glad to say has initiated action. The heartfelt experience has me looking forward to more stories from Davis!
“Do you remember,” an inspirational novel about following your heart and being honest about life decisions shook me to the core. Not only was the story-line realistic, it taught me lessons about life and how to live to the fullest. Beautifully written, a must read for the 2023 book-bucket list.” Livermore CA
