A collection of finely observed and evocative poems by an accomplished poet. Morris-Suzuki directs her attention to a wide range of subjects including Van Gogh and his art, religious belief, old age, the natural world and the nature of perception and change. She has an inspiring ability to translate the joys and sorrows of experience into poems of soothing lyricism and confronting power.
Tessa Morris-Suzuki is Professor of Japanese History at Australian National University and the author or co-author of more than a dozen books, including most recently East Asia Beyond the History Wars, with Morris Low, Leonid Petrov and Timothy Y. Tsu, and Borderline Japan, and a recipient of the 2013 Fukuoka Prize.
