Spirit Core #5

Caverns of Fear

Rate this book
What kind of legacy does a serial killer want to leave behind?

Clive Logan has killed thousands of people both over his lifetime and during his afterlife, though with his most recent scenario as a Spirit Core in the community of his enemy, the Hand of the Divine, he went a bit further than even the Goddess of the Underworld could have envisioned. While his boss worked behind the scenes to try and mitigate the damage he caused, the serial killer-turned-Spirit Core was shipped off to a cavern in the middle of nowhere in order to keep him out of trouble.

But Clive Logan isn’t one to stay out of trouble. He has to kill, and there isn’t much that anyone can do to stop that.

After being freed from the responsibilities of fulfilling the requirements of a scenario, the soul of the serial killer begins to explore all of the possibilities around his current location. With new abilities, new allies, and new personal objectives, Clive can do just about anything he wants. Unfortunately, his past actions have raised the ire of the Goddess of Heaven, and her agents – including Father Stryker – are dead set on finding him. The Hand of the Divine want to destroy his Spirit Core for good, wiping from existence everything he has accomplished, and they have the Divine Power to do so.

Can Clive figure out in time how to defend himself from their wrath? Or will his legacy be nothing more than a footnote in the book of famous serial killers?

Warning: There are some very sensitive and disturbing activities described in this book, as well as it being the tale of a serial killer doing what serial killers do; so, if you are opposed to those sorts of things, turn back now…

Contains LitRPG/GameLit aspects such as statistics and leveling, as well as Dungeon Core elements.

What I can say about this book is wow, it was an amazing completion to the Spirit Core series. I loved the unique use of animals to becoming monsters, and all their special abilities. I was glad when Clive’s minions finally got to him, there are like his kids in how he “cares” about them. Setting the scene in a cave system was interesting, it made it more like a classic dungeon. How the book ended… you will have to read it to find out.
