AJ Skelly (also writing as April J. Skelly) is an author, reader, and lover of all things fantasy, medieval, and fairy-tale-romance. And werewolves. She has a serious soft spot for them. As an avid life-long reader and a former high school English teacher, she's always been fascinated with the written word. She lives with her husband, children, and many imaginary friends who often find their way into her stories. They all drink copious amounts of tea together and stay up reading far later than they should.

This anthology from magik Prep is so fun. I loved each short story and characters we meet in them. Making Magic introduces us to the world of magic prep and it makes me excited to dive into this world even further. I loved all the magic, clean romance and the different magical creatures like kelpies, fairies, elves, werewolves and more. Each story is special. There is action, magic, love, friendship and each character learns and grows in their story line I love that. I really like the setting being this magical boarding school too it's such a cool and beautiful setting written so well I felt I was there myself. Each character is so well developed they are sticking with me. I'm ready for magic prep academy.

This was a fun collection of entertaining short stories, full of magic, romance, and Harry Potter vibes. This is set in the world of AJ Skelly’s ya novel, Of Flame and Frost, which is even better!

Although I personally don’t like anthologies this book read like a collection of fairy tales. The author did a wonderful job crafting each story. I would totally recommend this book.

An anthology of very short stories that can be read in minutes great for times when you only have moments to spare.

Every story takes place at a boarding school called Magic Prep Academy. There are many different characters that appear and I think only two or three stories might have repeat characters but never repeat protagonists.

These are all clean romances, as romances involving teenagers should be.

I was surprised mostly at how the magic took a back seat to the romance. Rather than spells and potions the students were almost all mythical creatures who had an innate magic ability to them. Otherwise the magic was mostly just set dressing literally just floating in the air as people walked passed.

All in all a solid introduction to this world. It really makes me want to read the full length novel Of Flame and Frost that also shares this universe.
