When Love Flows: The Beauty of Encouraging Others
How can you guide your child to use their words and actions to make a positive impact on the people around them?
Join Nora, as she discovers that sharing the love in her heart with others isn't as complicated as she might think.
Like a rippling river, a flowing fountain, a burbling brook- words were springing up in Nora's heart. The kindness, love, and joy in her heart were too much to contain. She had to share them with the world.
From the award-winning author of Bax and His Bubbles comes an inspiring story of how our encouraging words and thoughtful actions can make a difference in the lives of people around us.
Children will be inspired to write simple notes of encouragement and to use their words to build up, help, and be kind in their daily interactions. They'll know they are not too young to show appreciation and share their love with the people in their life.
With the charm of Mo Willem's Because and the warmth of On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman, When Love Flows is the perfect addition to your home or school social-emotional library. Grab your copy today! Perfect for ages 4-10.

When Love Flows is a refreshing take on the value actions and words have in encouraging those around you. The illustrations are beautiful! A journaler and a letter writer, I find that taking pen to paper is a good outlet to "unmuddle" thoughts at a pace that can help relay them clearly. I related to Nora's frustration in having all the emotions but not finding the right words. This book about encouraging others and extending kindnesses throughout your day is also an encouragement to the over-active thinker who is a willing, but hesitant speaker. It highlights another message: slow down, take notice, be nice. In a world where emails and digital greetings seem to travel at the speed of light, I'm happy to see a nod to a good old fashioned, hand-written card.

great book
I’m an 11 year old boy. I read the book and in my opinion it is very beautifully made and constructed in a way that makes it feel interesting. It reflects a life lesson and can teach other younger children the meaning of love and how it can affect others. I like to read it and it was easy to understand all of it. The glossary also helps with anyone confused with the meaning of some of the words and the brownies are also a very nice finishing touch to the book.

Review:
Book Summary:
Nora loves her family, her teacher, and her neighbor. So much affection is welling up inside her.
She yearns to express these feelings in words, but every time she tries to write them, her words get stuck. The precise words to show her gratitude and empathy won’t come to her.
After a brief struggle, Nora shows emotion through sincere actions and straightforward words.
Love is patient, love is kind, love doesn’t need complicated language to be impactful.
Opinion:
You know the maxim, “Love makes the world go round.”
Amin created a character who encapsulates the joyous and unconditional love children have for the world.
Nora possesses many qualities parents and teachers strive to instill in children. She’s caring, loving, sympathetic, empathetic and a great role model.
Things I liked about the book:
The use of onomatopoeia. When Nora’s words trickled to a stop they’d, “Drip, drip, drop!” A wonderful attention grabber for a child!
It was also nice to see a character overcome a common dilemma we’ve all faced in our lives, staring at a blank piece of paper after struggling to find the right words to communicate our feelings.
At times, they wrote words like water droplets or in unconventional lines or spirals. What a fun way to read!
There's even a brownie recipe at the end to share with friends and family.
Chirinos’ illustrations are bright and colorful with a splash of lighthearted fun. They complement the story perfectly.

Not Really About Encouragement
The subtitle of this book suggests it is about encouraging others, but that is not how I see it. To me, this book is more about feeling empathy for people and reacting compassionately to them; gratitude and appreciation are also themes. Yes, it has a few other concepts within it, like the thank-you note Nora writes at the very beginning of the book. But then we see Nora being ridiculed and not helped by fellow students when she trips in the hallway. Afterward, she has great compassion for her younger sister who struggles with her homework (so Nora helps her), and she also understands that a neighbor is sad (so Nora brings her a kind note and brownies). To me, that's empathy and compassion, not encouraging someone else. Later, the book shifts to be about thankfulness and appreciation, with Nora writing letters to the important people in her life so that they know not only that she appreciates them but also why she does. Still good messages, to be sure, but not quite “the beauty of encouraging others” as stated in the subtitle.
The book is vividly colored, which I always love to see in a children's book. The author had some fun playing with how the words are placed on the pages. Sometimes they are in standard blocky book-style text, but other times they swirl and cascade with the page's image. I also love that! Overall, I found this to be a sweet children's book with a kind and compassionate message.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Words Are Important
This is a story about how your words can impact a person when given through the action of love. This is a great book to use when teaching about loving others, helping others , and especially about being aware of other people’s feelings. Some children have a tendency to be self absorbed, this might be the story to help them see that we all are important enough to share our love and time.

A sweet story about how our words can make a difference onto others. A great SEL story to share with kids to promote kindness, encouragement, and compassion too.

Beautiful and Encouraging
This story helps children to see the importance of encouraging others and being grateful. It also helps children see that even if they are having trouble with words learn that they don't have to be perfect to share them
