This story reminded me of “Sex in the City.” The dynamic trio of Ali, Lizzie, and Suzanne are relatable and engaging characters that I rooted for throughout the story. The addition of paranormal elements adds an exciting twist to the typical romance genre, making the plot even more intriguing.

The good: I did appreciate the nod and exposure to clairvoyance for normal folks. The character of the bird was hilarious.
The bad: the characters say each other’s names way too much. Like every sentence too much. I just couldn’t get into the writing here and it was rough to get through.
That said, I commend the author for taking an unusual approach to the genre. It was a unique concept and I’ll never judge anyone for trying.

There is so much I could say about this book but I will cut right to the chase!
This book is honestly one of the best books I have read. 😍I will start by saying that the writing is exceptional. You can tell that Louise put her heart and soul into this book and made sure that the characters, plot, and details were superb.
These three friends go through so much in this book. It really pulls you into their world and as a woman they experience so much together that most woman can relate to. Then you add in the paranormal side which enhances the story and gives it a whole other element of fascination. Talk about a book that pulls you in and don’t let go, this is it!

Wholly unaccustomed to the genre of romantic fiction, from this book’s title I was anticipating what I imagined was something akin to a typical Mills & Boon confection, but with a little research I quickly discovered that the Mills & Boon books of today have moved far away from presenting tales of the coy and virtuous virgin assailed by suave and courageous suitors, which I had mistakenly expected. Dream Lover is, of course, not a Mills & Boon title, although it could quite happily rank amongst their more contemporary offerings when, from the first mention of the teasing of a clitoris, you’ll know that you’ve entered a different landscape to the one I had imagined. Even before then you will have encountered a precocious cockatoo that not only speaks but expresses logic, humour and empathy, which makes the subsequent introduction of a lover who can separate from his body and arrive in the narrator’s bed via the astral plane nothing extraordinary whatsoever! But this is, after all, the world of dreams.
It is a world in which the pace with which events unfold with minimal preamble fits the unlikely spectacle of astral transport, and one ceases to question their plausibility, choosing instead just to sit back and enjoy the ride in a heady suspension of disbelief. And so the book moves forward breathlessly from start to finish.
For the unaccustomed male reader of romance, the guileless female depiction of sex is revelatory, as is the dynamically observed relationships between the three friends, Ali, Lizzie and Suzanne. And that, I propose, is the real strength of the book. The spirited depiction of three women and their several escapades, particularly involving the imperfect men in their lives, is the bedrock on which this heady tale of relationships is built. Events sometimes seem almost preposterous but the women’s richly delineated characters draw one in with a compulsion to believe.
This is a fun tale, never dull, giving romance that sense of balance between reality and fantasy that provides its allure. If, like me, you’ve never read romantic fiction, this is a good place to start.

Dream Lover by Louise Glass, is a funny, romantic, story about three friends. Think Sex and The City meets Friends meets Stranger Things. (There is a paranormal edge as well.) It has everything you could want in a romance. Plenty of spice, plenty of humor, plenty of romance, plenty mysterious other-worldly events…
Ali finds herself having psychic premonitions. Looking for knowledge, she meets the love of her life, you might say her dream lover. When Lizzie gives up on men, she meets another loser. Or maybe he is not what he seems? Suzanne gave up on love a while ago. Focusing on her career helps her ignore her lack of a love life. Even though she has given up on love, she hasn’t given up men. Thankfully, the worst night of her life puts her back on the path towards love.
These women have a wonderful friendship and as their lives twist and turn, they don’t let anything come between them. Even dreaming about a lover, every, single, night, won’t change their minds. When premonitions and ghosts become as much a part of their lives as nutty pets, these women just keep on going.
I laughed out loud more than once. I cried, twice. I smiled with joy multiple times. The paranormal portions of the story are nothing short of fascinating. The author is obviously well versed in paranormal topics, she must have done years of research. Louise Glass describes everything so vividly I felt like I was right there with the characters. The scenery is beautifully portrayed, her knowledge of décor, fashion, and New York City, lends an authenticity to the story. I could picture everything so well; I think it would make a great movie!

Dream Lover by Louise Glass is the first in a series of unique and exciting paranormal romances by the author of the Dream Lover series. Three best friends are trapped between their world and the supernatural when Ali suddenly becomes psychic and saves Lizzie from certain death. Her buildings elevator’s cables broke crushing the occupants inside. Ali’s psychic abilities grow and she’s having dreams about a man who fulfills all her desires but she wakes up each morning alone. Fred, Ali’s rescued young,bright, toddler-like verbose cockatoo is addicted to Cheez Doodles and demands affection. Fred brings much needed humor Dream Lover. Lizzie is filled with insecurities and when she meets her soulmate the reader wonders if they will get their act together or break up. Suzanne is the most trusting of the three young women and that’s almost her downfall. There’s one graphic scene involving her but it’s needed for the murder mystery that is a vital part of the storyline. The men are each unique and each relationship is different. You care about the characters who are three dimensional. Louise Glass must have done much research in the New Age Sciences to write Dream Lover. The afterlife is explored and in the book souls who passed are not always happy and miss their life. The book kept me intrigued and the epilogue was a shock but uplifted me and I look forward to reading the next book the author writes.

Romance, friendship between three long-time friends, and paranormal scenes add to the enjoyment of reading this author's first novel. Early in the novel, Ali sees her best friend in danger if she uses her elevator. Will Ali be able to stop an awful event from occurring? Louise Glass wrote a genre breaking standout book that gets better each time I read it. Dream Lover is the perfect mix of the paranormal, romance, mystery, and humor in the form of a lovable cockatoo. Her dialogues are some of the most realistic I have ever read; they are natural to the story and never forced. Finally, the ending had me spell bound; it was truly unique and has me wanting the next book in the series to come out as soon as possible. I cannot recommend the author Louise Glass enough.

Fast paced, filled with meaningful friendships, and a fascinating paranormal angle. Dream Lover delves into psychic ability, empaths, and a little bit of the after life while following a trio of friends and a very interesting collection of pets. I was totally absorbed in this book and seeing how these abilities played into solving a crime, finding your soul mate, and the after life. It's a great read that gets you a little philosophical and keeps you turning pages. And the cliff hanger...wow!

Wonderful story about three friends at various stages in their love lives. We see what each friend goes through trying to find happiness. The paranormal aspect is fascinating, this author knows her stuff. The amount of knowledge, research, and experience come through in a magical love story that travels through a realm that was completely new to me. I loved it! Imagine Sex and the City meets Stranger Things. I've never read anything like it before and I can't wait to read the next one. This book was hard to put down and I didn't want it to ever end. Can't recommend it enough!

Dream Lover is a fun, fast paced paranormal romance that includes plenty of suspense and twists that make you want to keep reading. And let’s not forget love scenes which were slightly less spicy than I’m accustomed to reading in my paranormal romance novels, but were still very well written. I would recommend to anyone looking for a fun weekend read. Looking forward to the next installment!
