The old adage promises that time heals all wounds.
But it’s been nearly six years since the tragic accident that orphaned Sean, Ethan, Libby, Todd, and Sam, and they’ve discovered that sometimes, time makes wounds worse, especially when grief is mingled with guilt.
And Sean, who enlisted in the Marines after the accident, is well acquainted with both.
His third deployment ends abruptly and he returns home bitter and broken, where he’s forced to confront the siblings he abandoned and a barrage of memories – memories that slink into his dreams and haunt his footsteps like a shadow at dusk. Memories he can never forget.
It’s been six years, but Sean can’t make peace with the past. He survived the war abroad only to return home and find himself in the midst of another war – a war far more sinister and consequential than he ever imagined.
This book follows the journey of Sean, Ethan, Libby, Todd, and Sam, five siblings trying to heal after losing both of their parents in a car accident six years prior. As the book starts, the reader dives into each of their stories and sees firsthand how the Lord is near to them, working to restore their hearts and minds in Him. The author expertly crafts their intertwining stories, and she keeps you on the edge of your seat with various flashbacks that reveal the darkest troubles each of them have had in the years since. The picture of God’s restoration and bringing healing from hurt is evident on each and every page, and she leaves the reader wanting to know more about the Daniels siblings.
One of my best friends has been working on writing this book for awhile now, and when it was published in October of this year, I was excited to finally have my hands on this work of her heart! Her writing drew me in in a way that most books don’t, and I was excitedly texting her where I was or how I was feeling at each new event. Do you know how cool it is to be able to text the author herself?? This story was well-written, had real and relatable characters, and the description of the Gospel and God’s character was biblically sound! It’s a much needed reminder that no one is too far gone or broken for God to restore and make whole again ❤️
This novel is not only heartwarming but also thrilling! I have never before read a book about siblings that has kept my interest throughout the entire book! What a powerful story of love, restoration and forgiveness. I cannot wait to read more from Aubree Fahringer!
