This is a cute and simple book for your children/students who are starting to test their hygiene boundaries. If you have a child you is going through this phase, this would be a great sensitive way to tackle the topic :)
I read this book at our girls' elementary school library. I occasionally help out with shelving, and I love to attend when our girls are there for library class (usually they have storytime and library instruction.) I am trying to learn as much about being an elementary school librarian, since I think that will be my next career after I retire from the military. But I digress (I do that a lot!)
In any case, I discovered this book while I was shelving books and the cover illustration looked so cute. It was a quick read and I liked it, but I'm discovering that there's a whole collection of stories out there that our girls have no interest in reading with me anymore, because they are too 'babyish.' (*sigh*) So here and there I will read a few of them on my own and this is one of them. It's a cute story, with a simple narrative and fun illustrations. Along with a hygiene lesson, it also helps to teach the days of the week.
This was a favorite when our kids were young, and it was also a favorite when I used to read to the young elementary school kids in Texas years ago. It's got great illustrations by John Bianchi, a cute and simple story, and just a delightful sense of humor. It also manages to teach young kids the days of the week. I love Mortimer Mooner!
