Reliability Monitoring Using Sensor Technologies

Rate this book
This text is devoted to the physics-of-failure approach to product reliability using sensor technologies. As a number of products have been observed to fail over time by gradual accumulation of damage due to operation in their life cycle environment, monitoring of life cycle environments lends itself to a scheme for estimating product damage, which can be used as a measure of when a product can be expected to fail. A well-designed maintenance scheme based on a health monitoring methodology can be used to predict and prevent product failure, and reduce maintenance costs. This book describes the development of such a maintenance scheme, and also provides a guide for the selection of sensor technologies.
