Polish philosopher, historian of philosophy, historian of art, aesthetician, and author of works in ethics.

Tatarkiewicz was a comprehensive scientist. In his works he included issues in music, poetry and art, as well as aesthetics and history of arts. He is mostly renoved, however, as an ethician and the author of 3-volume History of Philosophy.

He elaborated on semantic analysis of happiness and gave careful psychological considerations to the feelings of both happy and unhappy men.

Through his books, Tatarkiewicz educated generations of Polish philosophers, estheticians and art historians, as well as a multitude of interested laymen.
