Nervous at a new hospital and desperate to make a good impression, Frankie’s mortified when her new grumpy, dismissive boss is also her long-standing, secret crush. He mends broken hearts for a living, so why is he so careless with hers?
Stick and Stones – unrequited love, secret crush, friends to enemies to lovers romance. For Lou it was always Dylan. For Dylan it was always anyone but Lou. So Lou buries her pain and pines for him in private, but she can't give up their friendship, until one day Dylan's goes too far and cuts her to the bone. Only then does he realise the extent of his stupidity. Maybe sticks and stones can break bones, and that’s something Dylan’s surgical skills can deal with. But when it’s a heart he’s broken…
Beyond repair – grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lover romance. Everybody loves bubbly, kind, fun-loving Katie. Well, most people, other than Sam, that is. Ex-special forces with a surly demeanour the complete opposite of Katie's, he can’t stand her. Katie may be bubbly and bright but unfortunately, her past is not. She hides her fear from her friends, but when Sam finds out the danger she’s in he can’t allow her to be hurt. Unfortunately, there are other ways to be hurt, and by getting closer to Katie, Sam may inflict more damage than her past ever could. Because Sam is damaged, and some things are beyond repair.
Goodnight – billionaire boss/bodyguard, reverse grumpy/sunshine romance. Life is pain. That is the reality Goodie has had to accept since she was nine years old. A life in the shadows where she can stay in darkness is fine by her. That is until the powerful, arrogant, filthy rich man she’s paid to protect tries to pull her into the light. Everything about Nick and his bright, charismatic personality drives Goodie insane, and for some reason makes her feel threatened. Fear is weakness, and if Goodie’s life has taught her anything it’s that you never, ever show weakness.
Warning These stories are adult contemporary romances. They involve some swearing and occasional violence.
Susie is a top 2 Amazon bestselling author who writes addictive, feel-good contemporary romance with heroes who may make you a little ragey, but who always redeem themselves in the end! She’s been a doctor in the NHS for over twenty years and lives in beautiful Dorset with her wonderful husband, three gorgeous boys and an even more wonderful dog.
4 fun romances - all sprinkled with the author's UK humour. Really this 4 set probably deserves five stars as a whole, but I rated each novel an average of 4 stars. Entertaining with a little bit of spice and some great and original stories.
BK 1- BROKEN HEART SYNDROME—5 STARS: Frankie is finishing medical school. Her end game is to be a caregiver in Hospice and Palliative care and her last rotation is in Cardiology which she is dreading. This story revolves around Doctors and their hospital. Her early college heartthrob, Tom Longley, broke her heart and now she has to work under him for the next 6 months. Frankie is a wonderful lady who was dealt a rough childhood. Her sad experiences made her weary of people because they tend to let her down and hurt her. She finally feels more secure surrounded by very good friends but with Tom back in her life she’s thrown for a curve. Tom feels like Frankie hurt his feelings and to get back at her he treats her poorly and even embarrasses her in front of the other Doctors. It’s all misunderstandings on both parts but in the end, they figure it out. This is a lovely story filled with awesome characters and a very happy ending. Bk 2 – STICKS & STONES --4 STARS: College friends all studying to become Doctors form close friendships, some turn into loving relationships. Louise (Lou) Sands has pinned over Dylan since the beginning but he sleeps with everyone but her. She hurts being in just the friends category but she loves him so whatever! Dylan is a giant gad about who everyone loves. He is also very lazy and fights having to do stuff he feels is not necessary to his career, so Lou covers for him and he keeps walking all over her. Lou is a beautiful person in and out but she comes from a vicious hurtful mother, her dad’s just neglectful but Lou has a wonderful younger brother and many friends so life is good. Lou is an outrageous beauty, always in fashion and the life of the party. All the guys want her…, and all the girls want to be her friend. There are many misunderstandings now that these Doctors are working in a hospital. Lou is still filling in for the lazy inept Dylan at the same time she has to watch him sleep with every female in sight. Her work load covering for him is massive and things are slipping through. Finally, everything blows up in Lou’s face. She needs time away from the hospital and the pain of Dylan’s rejection and screw-ups. This story has lots of ups and joyous parts then there are the downs of Dylan’s attitude and misunderstanding. Lou deserves better than Dylan but that’s who she wants. BK 3 Beyond Repair--5 Stars: I loved Katie! She is a Doctor in private practice with two male Doctors. Katie is filled to the brim with kindness, compassion, helpfulness, and very good Doctoring. Because of this, she is extremely busy with patients who love how she cares for them and with friends who just want to be around her. Katie shies away from dating after suffering a very bad experience with Daniel, a past long-term boyfriend. He was not who she thought he was and their relationship got dangerous and scary. There’s only one guy she would love to date but Sam doesn’t think very highly of her. Sam is retired special forces whose last mission went terribly wrong and he may never get past that. Together, Sam and Rob, Katie’s BFF and Sarah’s husband, own and run a security company. Sam is outright nasty to Katie but that changed once her stalker showed just how dangerous he can be. Everyone loves Katie and in the end, so does Sam. Lovely happy ending! BK 4 Goodnight—5 +++stars Goodie (Anya) is a spook! At twenty-nine she is an accomplished freelance spy, warrior, and assassin. Goodie started her career at nine when she killed her mother’s pimp who had just killed her mom. Life has been horrible for Goodie. She is a machine…she enjoys nothing…has no friends…no relaxation… she just protects and rights wrongs. Her latest job is close protection for Nick Chambers. Nick and his partner, Ed have created a new alternative additive power source and some people do not want it on the market. Nick and Ed are in serious danger. Rich boy Nick thinks he can handle everything until he sees full-on Goodie and her sidekick Salem, a huge well-trained dog, and all they’re capable of. Nick and Goodie butt heads for half the story but Nick is so intrigued by her, he is used to getting what he wants. Goodie doesn’t want any connection to anyone and fights him to remain only a bodyguard. I love Nick’s entire family. There are so many wonderful, colorful characters and side stories. Nick is a wonderful guy and is changing a lot to win the heart of Goodie. I don’t have words for Goodie. This lady’s life has been mostly hell but Nick is going to change that. This is a great sad admirable story. The ending is perfect and makes all the sadness worth it. Linda
More like 3.5 stars. I think if I had read these first before Susie Tate’s more recent books I would have rated them higher. However I kept comparing them to Unworthy or Gold Digger which I really enjoyed.
Broken Heart Syndrome- liked this one enough. I do feel like she let Dylan off too easy for what he did and then hid from her.
Sticks and Stones- not my favorite. Dylan continued to be an asshole and we didn’t see much of his groveling (which Tate usually does well) because Lou was gone for a year. We only hear about it after the fact. From the last book to this one he put all the work on Lou and that really bugged me. I think I’m just not a fan of this guy.
Beyond Repair- I didn’t have that much issue with this one except that I would have liked to see Sam work on himself more before trying to win Kate back. I’m not a fan of the love heals everything. It’s mentioned he goes to therapy and he seems more well adjusted in the next book.
Goodnight- I love Goodie and Nick. This one leaned heavier into crime thriller.
Other things I like: - Tate doesn’t pit women against each other which I love and sadly don’t see often in romance. - if you like a miscommunication trope she does them pretty well

I’m not going to try to review each book in this box set individually. Each story is enjoyable and the main characters are all strong and likeable with distinct characters. The books follow a relatively similar format where the FC is treated badly by the relevant MC but then the MC realises how much he loves the FC and there is grovelling involved. Each book is linked as the characters all come from the same friend circle but they are each standalone.
The stories are engaging, well written and edited. The author creates and develops good stories and backstories for her characters with sufficient drama to keep you turning the pages and not getting bored and some good side players that ensure the books have depth. There is heat and a small number of sex scenes which add to the characters’ relationships.
All in all these are enjoyable, fun stories with humour, drama and sparks between the characters.
Why did it take me so long to read this boxset. Each book is an exciting and emotional storyline. The characters are hilarious and The amount of times I've laughed out loud is rediculous. The characters and storylines run so smoothly, that you cant put these books down. I've even been reading a quick page or two during my lunchbreak. Loved reading these 4 amazing books. There is romance, comedy, sadness, love and I've cried too reading these books. Bloody amazing books and badgers rule! xx
Wow! I hesitated to read this oneGoodnight) because I struggle with series. The books are usually similar, and after reading 3 or 4, I usually quit. I found the box set and reread the first 3 which o had already read and decided to read this one too. I could kick myself it is fantastic and totally different from the others. Nick and Goodie are so good together and their story is interstate and keeps you engaged from beginning to end.
This box set was well worth the read- it has everything you want and characters you can side with, believe in and love. These books are well written with an edge of quirkiness that you can laugh or smile at, plots that are plausible and enough angst then love to keep you happy. I have not read any other of this author’s books but that will now change as I really enjoyed them all!
4 incredible books covering 4 couples, who grow together through turmoil and adversity to conquer their obstacles. Each couple falls gets their HEA in the end. The characters are richly developed as are the story lines. You get the added bonus of having many of characters carry on through all 4 books. I highly recommend.
I don't normally read a book twice, because I remember what's coming. But I enjoyed Goodnight so much, re read or not. Soooooo glad Goodie membered who she was and what she became xx Well worth a read. Loved all the characters have their own story and you just want to be there with them x
Thoroughly enjoyed this series. I loved the quick wit and humorous pieces mixed within the storyline that was quite engaging. Looking forward to enjoying more of your work. Great job !
I am not sure if I will get past the 1st story to read a 2nd, it just dragged on and on with the whole I am shy premise for far too long, there is basically enough plot for a short story, I just found myself getting annoyed by how clueless and naive the main female character is. Far too repetitive.
I really glad I fell across this author’s name and books. So good. The books have a wonderful mix of humor and romance. The author obviously has a good understanding of mental issues related to trauma and self-worth issues and treats those issues without being too heavy.
I’m afraid to say I’ve binged this box set, my only disappointment is that I’ve now finished. One thing you can’t call this is soppy romance. But love is certainly at the heart of it all.
Loved this whole series, couldn't put them down. The people are fabulous, crazy, weird but totally people I want to know. The families created are wonderful.
I fell in love with each character, how could you not! The stories links were beautiful and I love how each character made a mark. I was sad to finish the box set
Ms. Tate does a fantastic job creating characters that are believable and you become attached to. I completely binged this whole set. Can’t wait to read more of Ms Tate’s work.
I bought it for the last two stories. They were so good I read the first two. I do not normally read contemporary romance, but I can't seem to get enough of this author's books.
Bien écrit, captivant, et étonnement m’a garder intéressé pendant les 4 livres !! Lorsque je croyais que le livre terminait, il en restait encore et ceci j’ai adoré. Bravo et je garde cette Hauteur dans une de mes favorite.
Enjoyed reading the Broken Hearts series very much. So convenient that it came in boxed set so I could read the entire series at once. Love Susie Tate’s writing style and will definitely be checking out other titles by her.
I truly enjoyed this series!!! My favorite is Goodnight! The enjoyed the family dynamic. I happy to learn new languages. It has all the ingredients of a good romance novel. I highly recommend it.
