· hear and respond to God's assignment,
· defeat the giants in your life, and
· live out your faith in a hostile culture.
You don't need to fear. Take courage as you follow the One who has overcome the world--and have faith that your battles belong to the Lord.

These devotionals are applied in such a unique way and vision that they impressed me, and exceeded my expectations regarding this book. The appeals and meditations at the end of each reading made me project my thoughts about my mission here on this earth in a very deep way.

Fearless by Faith, a 60-day devotional by Brother Andrew and Al Janssen, is not your typical devotional. Nor is it a book to skim through. It is a book to ponder and spend time with.
What I appreciate most about this book is how, by looking at the lives of Moses, David, Elijah, Jonah, and Gideon, each devotion shows us that we can hear from God and defeat giants in our life, too. Although I am very familiar with the men's stories, I found new insights inside this book.
In twelve concise chapters for each man, Brother Andrew discusses pivotal events in their lives where God called them into battle. In these brief glimpses, he shows how these men relied on God and his Spirit to fight their battles. He points out similarities between their spiritual battles and ours.
Reflection questions are at the end of each chapter. The author hopes that through Fearless by Faith readers are encouraged to identify what they feel God's called them to do, along with a battle plan to accomplish it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House for a fair and honest review, which is exactly what I gave.

Fearless by Faith is easy to read . . . I struggle with nonfiction. Honestly, most of my nonfiction books (unless memoir) sit unfinished or partway read. I lose interest. Fearless by Faith has short, meaningful chapters. The questions at the end of each chapter are helpful to think about.
The authors have two sections where they discuss five mighty warriors for God. In Part One, they speak of how God spoke to these warriors and how they interacted. In the second, they share the actual work of these men. David, Elijah, Jonah, Moses, Gideon. As you see by the list, each of these men have their own (huge) faulty issues. And yet God used them in huge and mighty ways. The authors use their basic, flawed humanity to paint us a picture, tell us a story, where we can see that with our hand in God's and obeying even when we are angry, terrified, or doubtful, God can accomplish great things. It is not under our power, but under our willingness that God acts.
