Discusses the variety of reactions that people experience because of the loss of a love and provides numerous recommendations for coping with pain and achieving comfort.
this book was recommended to me by my therapist. it was a touching read about losses of all sorts: death, the end of a relationship, and limbo losses. it had four sections of the loss, surviving, healing, and growing. each chapter ended with a lovely piece of poetry. it was a shorter read but worth taking time to sit with each thought. i will definitely be holding onto this book for rereads throughout life.
Was recommended to read this book by my psychologist after losing my life partner unexpectedly. Although the book had different ideas to consider on moving forward that were useful, it was not pulled together in a cohesive way. It was a quick read, so I was able to find a few thoughts to take away without wanting to not finish the book thankfully.
Your considering this because you are in pain. Read this now for some relief.
Amazing! Truly amazing. You will feel understood. Wise advice is given so eloquently. The poetry's depth and beauty turn pain into beauty. This book has excelerated my healing process exponentially. Very grateful!
A friend recommended this to me when I experienced grief after a tragic event. While this book is geared toward the loss of a romantic relationship, I found it helpful for any type of grief. It has a quirky approach that makes it more relatable and less dry, and the construct of using short ideas rather than longer chapters is easier to read when in grief.
The poetry is beautiful and highly resonant after such loss (which seems to be highly tailored to breakups/divorce). The prose and tips are less so but the combination of both makes for a unique reading experience which for someone who needs it, makes it hard to put down.
